How to unlock the Points III achievement in Shinobi - Definitive Guide

There's an easy, albeit tedious way to get this achievement. Start a new game and give yourself 5 lives and 5 continues. Once you get to level 2-1, play through the level normally and get all the hostages. Before you reach the final screen of the level, save. Normally, you'd see the chopper for the first time and meet some extra enemies. You have to stop just before you get to da choppa and start throwing stars. You will start to hit the enemies off screen (look at your score) and they will keep on respawning! Keep throwing stars (turn on rapid fire) and you'll get a bunch of points. Keep doing this til the timer runs out. If you don't get this to work, remember that the enemies have to be off screen! Just inch your way to the exit, throwing shurikens and stop once you see the score going up.

You'll die and get to restart the level. Rinse and repeat the method. You have 25 lives, but you don't have to use all of them to get the achievement.

I found this to be the least frustrating way of getting this achievement. It will save you the trouble of going through the entire game a second time if you played through it once already.

Plus, you can set the difficulty to hardest and get the 300k on your way to the chopper for that achievement.

One other tip - I got a bit nervous that I was going to run out of continues before I made it to 300,000. I lost a handful of lives just playing stupidly due to the boredom of playing the level over repeatedly. On my last life I made a save and sure enough when time ran out I reached my "game over" at 292,000. So I used that save point and last life to push through the next level or two and it finally popped. I was thankful I had the forethought to make a save, so I didn't have to repeat the grind session over.

I did it. Great method. I had about 4 lives left on my final continue. I got a few more lives from 100,000 and 150,000 and maybe 200,000 pts.

Used this trick in my first playthrough on normal difficulty. I just want to get the points achievements out of the way, especially this one. I made around 80,000 extra points here before moving on. I got over 300,000 in mission 4-4 when I beat the Lobster boss. Again, my f*ing Xbox lost Internet or Xbox Live connection without me noticing it while I was idle. I hate it when I don't get time stamps properly. Either it's my Wi-Fi or Xbox Live. If it's my Wi-Fi, I can't complain because it's free for me. If it's Xbox Live why do I pay for a service who is down regularly?

You will not score 300k on a normal playthrough, I finished my first game with around 270k. To score quick and large you have to complete levels without using your magic which gets you 5000 bonus points and if you can complete the level without firing any stars/guns and only use melee kills you will get 20,000 bonus points! It can be frustrating because the shoot/melee button are both the same, so sometimes if your just not close enough to an enemy you'll accidently shoot instead of kick/punch. Once again the save anywhere feature is your friend! If you feel the need you can save after every enemy you melee so if you mess up you just quit and reload. Just choose the levels you find easiest and 20k, 80k and 300k achievents can be earned very quick. I managed to score 300k on easy setting before the mission 4 boss level and that was not even getting all the bonus points on every level.

I used the great guide by Creamium85 and video by HellCreeper666 to get this. I did this after finishing the game on easy while on my way to get the chopper on hard.
It is definitely the easiest way to get it but I felt like I wasted almost an hour doing this when it could have been much faster.

I finished my easy playthrough with about 178,000 and I consider myself average to poor at this game. That left me 122k short.

Here's where I would have liked to have done it differently:

Running the clock out like the guides above takes 3 minutes.
I was netting about 10k per run.
10k x 3 minutes means you'll spend 90 minutes getting the achievement (plus saving and loading time).

Since an average player will only be about 130k short I think the best method would be to follow the above guides but only boost your score around 160k (from what you arrive at the ship with). That should give a normal player a nice cushion.
That would only take you about 48 minutes. You would pop the achievement towards the end of the first playthrough saving approximately 42 minutes of boredom. Then you just run back to the ship on hard and beat the chopper and you're done.

I hope this helps save someone some time. Happy gaming! :)

The easiest place to grind all the points related achievements is at the end of Mission 2.1. Be sure you still have all your lives and all your continues left!! This is important.

When you get to the end of this mission, you’ll see a part of a ship’s bow.
This is a good place to save your game and make sure you don’t overwrite that save. Don’t jump on the platform! Now, at the ship's bow, move right until you cannot move anymore and have to jump. If you got to the chopper, you went too far! Go back or reload a save as you don't want the chopper to leave. Now start spamming the button. There will be an infinite number of enemies spawning. Do this until the timer runs out and you’ll restart at the beginning of the level. Go back to end of this level and keep repeating this strategy so you’ll be netting 10,000-12,000 points over-and-over again.

You’ll unlock all the points related achievements before all the continues are consumed. If you’re not sure about the location to do this strategy, go to the 3 minutes and 37 seconds mark of the first video walkthrough here.
