How to unlock the Spec'd Out achievement in Shovel Knight: Specter of Torment - Definitive Guide

You need to acquire all 6 Willful Wisps, all 3 Darkness Wisps, all curios except for the Caltrops, all curio upgrades (Caltrops cannot be upgraded), all cloaks/armors except for the Donovan Set and the Cold Shoulder gear item. How you get the Wisps doesn't matter for this trophy/Feat but if you purchase any you missed in the stages from the NPC Missy in the Tower, you will void the trophy/Feat Wisp Whisperer.

To get the Cold Shoulder gear item (which lets you "Strike a defiant pose" by holding ), first you need to complete The Lich Yard stage. When you return to the Tower, there will be a dancer standing at the left of the bar in the banquet hall. The banquet hall is the upper centre room in the Tower. When you talk to her, she will dance for you. After the dance is over, you will be rewarded with the Cold Shoulder.

Curios are purchased from Red, the red skeleton in the lower centre room of the Tower, with the Red Skulls you find in the stages and the Tower hub . When you first get to the tower after completing the Plains, Red will only have 3 curios to start with. Each time you complete a stage (with the exception of the final 2), Red will have a new curio for sale. When you purchase a new curio, you will be taken to a short tutorial area to familiarise you with the curio's capabilities.

Here is a list of all curios:

  • Will Skull - 3 Red Skulls - Available by default. - Clutch this skull to regain Will.
  • Throwing Sickle - 5 Red Skulls - Available by default. - Launch a boomeranging blade.
  • Dread Talon - 8 Red Skulls - Available by default. - Unleash a powerful close range strike.
  • Skeletal Sentry - 9 Red Skulls - Available after completing The Lich Yard. - Summon a skeleton sniper and detonate with .
  • Barrier Lantern - 7 Red Skulls - Available after completing Clockwork Tower. - Create a shield which blocks projectiles to charge up.
  • Shadow Mirror - 6 Red Skulls - Available after completing Pridemoor Keep. - Cast a reflection and attack from a distance.
  • Spider Scythe - 5 Red Skulls - Available after completing Stranded Ship. - Throw a scythe which climbs over obstacles.
  • Bounding Soul - 5 Red Skulls - Available after completing Explodatorium. - Free a lost soul which reflects off of surfaces.
  • Chronos Coin - 10 Red Skulls - Available after completing Lost City. - Slows down everything around you.
  • Hover Plume - 7 Red Skulls - Available after completing Iron Whale. - Float for a short time.
  • Judgment Rush - 10 Red Skulls - Available after completing Flying Machine. - Grasp this jewel to rush at the nearest enemy and strike.
  • Caltrops - Given by Red when you give him all 100 Red Skulls. - Scatter spikes in front of unsuspecting foes. (Not needed for trophy/Feat)

To Purchase Cloaks: In the lower centre room of the Tower, just to the right of Red, you will see a bunch of small black creatures gathered around a vessel marked with a cloak. After you make 3 offerings of 800 gold each (2400 gold total), the vessel shatters and the creatures inhabit the cloak. It calls itself "Manny" and will now sell you different cloaks (armor) in exchange for gold. You can switch between any cloaks you already own for free by talking to Manny and selecting the cloak you want to wear.

Here is a list of all cloaks:

  • Crimson Cloak - Your have it by default. - A tattered garment tinged with remnants of the past.
  • Cloak of Clemency - 3,500 gold - Lose Will and Darkness instead of perishing in pits and spikes! Drop less gold when you fall in battle.
  • Rail Mail - 6,000 gold - An advanced cloak. Hold when landing to grind quickly along surfaces and spikes as if they were rails!
  • Striker's Shawl - 6,000 gold - Hold to charge, then release a superior scythe swing.
  • Raiment of Risk - 5,000 gold - Break checkpoints to lower your max Will but boost attacks and regenerate Darkness until you fall in battle!
  • Ghostly Garb - 8,000 gold - Look more imposing and fearsome than ever before but to no effect.
  • Donovan Set - Given by Red when you give him all 100 Red Skulls. - Adopt the visage of your former self. (Not needed for this trophy/Feat)

To Upgrade Curios: From the lower centre room of the Tower, if you go up one room and then right one room, you will see a bunch of small black creatures gathered around a vessel marked with curios. After you make 3 offerings of 1,000 gold (3,000 gold total), the vessel shatters and the creatures inhabit the cloak. It calls itself "Legion" and will now sell you upgrades for the curios that you own in exchange for gold. Each upgrade costs 4,000 gold.

Here is a list of all curio upgrades:

  • Will Skull - Yields even more Will.
  • Throwing Sickle - Passes through obstacles and recovers gold.
  • Dread Talon - Resists interruptions and increases attack range.
  • Skeletal Sentry - Fires even more projectiles and has more health.
  • Barrier Lantern - Becomes more powerful when fully charged.
  • Shadow Mirror - Reflection extends farther and can pick up items.
  • Spider Scythe - Increases in size and recovers gold.
  • Bounding Soul - Cuts through enemies and recovers Gold.
  • Chronos Coin - Slows for even longer.
  • Hover Plume - Grants invincibility while floating.
  • Judgment Rush - Grants invincibility and activates Rush faster.
  • Caltrops - Cannot be upgraded.

As soon as you acquire your last Wisp, Cloak, Upgrade and the Cold Shoulder, the trophy/Feat will unloc
