How to unlock the Hooper achievement in Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove - Definitive Guide
This is a pretty simple achievement. Just practice for a little and you'll get it down. As I explain in the video, just land on the left edge of the hoop and hold the thumbstick to the right. After your 5th bounce you need to change direction right away, so just pull it back to the left and bounce a few more times. It might be after your 4th bounce that it switches direction if you land closer to the center, but if you pay attention you'll see shovel knight break the top of the hoop and land on the other side. You need to change direction when you land that time.

I tried to put my own solution but it seems to not be working.

You can get three achievements in the village near the start of the game.
For Hooper, do it BEFORE unlocking the shortcuts, because the stupid catapult gets in the way when you're bouncing off the hoola-hoop. Just jump above the hoop and hold down on the d-pad or left thumbstick (left thumbstick is probably easier since you can tweak your direction slightly by rolling it left and right) and attempt to stay above the hoop for 5 seconds. I found it easiest to bounce off the opposite side of the hoop from the direction it was rolling, while holding the thumbstick slightly toward the direction of the roll. So if it's rolling left, bounce on the right-hand side and hold the thumbstick down and slightly to the left, etc. Sometimes it changes direction, but if you get your bounce started quick enough when it's near the side of the screen in that area of town, you should be able to get the full 5 seconds in one direction.
In the interest of creating as much of a one-stop-shop as possible, I've included 22 of the miscellaneous achievements in Shovel Knight in the video below. I wanted to include Knuckle Down as well, but the stage for that was already complete in my game and I haven't played back through again to unlock it. You can see Hooper at the 00:07 mark.

The Hoop Kid is found wandering around, playing with their hoop on the right hand side of the Village. You need approximately 11 consecutive bounces on the hoop with your Shovel Drop to unlock the trophy. While bouncing on the hoop, in order to keep from making the hoop switch directions, I found it best to stop pressing forward for just a split second every two bounces or so before resuming to hold forward again.
