How to unlock the No Damage! achievement in Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove - Definitive Guide
The level is short and pretty easy to go through without getting damage. the only two tricky spots, in my opinion, are the second dragon and the three blobs that hide in the grass.
The second dragon is tricky because of the gap in the ground and the small roof right above said gap. The dragon will start blowing bubbles before you get to the gap and you have to be quick to jump on them or dodge them. Once over the gap, you can easily bounce on his head for a few times until he moves forward. When he is far enough forward, just bounce over him and leave him behind, you don't need to kill him.
The skeleton in the next room will just walk straight off the cliff if you walk towards him without jumping. The only other part that is a pain is the three blobs that are right before the last stage. they are only tough because of the grass that they can hide in.
As for the boss, he is rather simple but takes a few hits. he is also quicker than other enemies. He will either run at you and swing his sword, bounce at you with his sword down, or shoot a projectile at you.
This is where the two potions come in handy. use one immediately and attack and try to get a good string of combos on him. be warned, the invincibility will wear off and you will want to have the second one selected before it does.
once you beat him, you will unlock the achievement if you were not damaged at all in the entire level.
*** EDIT***
It has been brought to my attention that there is a chance of this glitching for some players. Apparently the developers know of this issue and are working on a patch for it.
If it does glitch, then I am not sure how to get around it other than to wait for the patch.
Thank you Habfan5693 for the information
I recommend going for this achievement once you get the Phase Locket and the Ground Spark ability for your Shovel. Any level will do which I personally used the 1st as you can retry it as many times as you like.
Phase Lock when you feel threatened and use the Spark to help keep distance (Fire Rod will also work).
If you haven't earned it already this method will also earn you
That is if you do what I did in the video. I never picked up food and I killed Black Knight with Sparks.
No Damage is easiest to do on the Plains stage (the first one). The Phase Locket is essential as it allows you to simply pass through enemies in tricky areas where you need to focus on jumping, as well as making the fight against Black Knight at the end a breeze. You could bring invincibility chalices from the troupple as others have mentioned, but personally I prefer to bring the ones that refill all your health and magic. Of course you won't need the health, but with two full refills of your magic you can make liberal use of the Phase Locket throughout the stage, not just against the Black Knight at the end, to make it an easy run.
In the interest of creating as much of a one-stop-shop as possible, I've included 22 of the miscellaneous achievements in Shovel Knight in the video below. I wanted to include Knuckle Down as well, but the stage for that was already complete in my game and I haven't played back through again to unlock it. You can see a playthrough of the Plains mission taking no damage and using the Phase Locket and magic-refill combo at the 11:25 mark.
This can be done on any stage, but it is recommended that you do it on one of the earlier stages because they are much easier. There is no need to try for this the very first time you attempt a stage because you are able to replay stages as much as you want after you complete them. Any damage you take during that stage will negate the trophy, even if you collect food, get back to full health, and then finish the stage. That goes for dying and restarting from a checkpoint, too. It has to be done in one single attempt, start to finish. This trophy is best paired with On a Diet in order to save time.
Here is a video on one way of achieving this, and On a Diet in a single run:
