How to unlock the Prodigal Child achievement in Sifu - Definitive Guide

For this trophy you will want to beat as many levels as possible without dying. As such, knowing the strategies for no death runs of each level is extremely helpful when working towards this trophy. I am working on a video series to showcase some strategies on how to no death each level. Hopefully someone finds this playlist helpful. Right now only level 1 is posted however level 2 and 3 are recorded and currently being edited. I will update this guide when they are live. Good luck with this one.

If you get to the final level under 25, could you replay from the last level and get this trophy or would you have to start over?

You can replay from the final level until you get it. I recommend trying to aim for 22 on the final level so that you can die twice in one phase for the final boss if you need. If you get there at 23 then you can only die once in the first phase. and once in the second which is still very doable just takes practice to learn the final boss.

This achievement is not as hard as you might think. The key here is practice, especially for the bosses. You can practice every enemies in every variant and all bosses in the hub area.
Obviously its much easier to do this when you have all skills unlocked, especially some of the focus attacks are quite useful.
Also don‘t forget to use these focus attacks! Use them on enemies you either struggle with or that are hard to fight anyway and bosses of course.

My fighting style was always the same for all bosses: dodge/parry their attack until they are open for a hit -> hit him once and do a throw -> use the Y chasing attack to knock him on the ground and do a ground attack -> repeat. Throwing them into a wall is even better if available, because it does more structure damage.

I would try to do all of the first 4 levels without dying once, since the endboss can potentially ruin your day if you have to beat him without dying.
There is an optimal route for every level to get the most shrines while having to fight as few enemies as possible.
You can choose the upgrades as you like but i went for life regain after takedown first, then structure damage with parries, then increased weapon damage and last i did structure reserve.
I have a youtube playlist with every level beaten without dying and using these exact routes: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLM0zKjx-cD6dgP3FZzDfvElHL...

For those who prefer a short description:

The Squats: i went the long route through the entire level since it offers 3 shrines and the enemies are rather basic still, but you can still get 2 shrines by using the big shortcut in the beginning by using a key to unlock the door on the ground floor in the first building.

The club: go right after the dancefloor and immediately right again. Dont forget the shrine in the gym area. You dont have to fight those too. Just say „im ready“ to the guy talking to you and he will let you pass.

The museum: go straight to the staircases to the second floor, through the exhibition (1 shrine in pendulum room), on 3rd floor go through the door to the miniboss to skip a very hard exhibition, go to 4th floor and left to the 2nd shrine, turn back and use the elevator to skip to the boss and the 3rd shrine.

The tower: use the elevator skip to the cave area. The shrine in the office is way too deep into the level to be worth getting.

The sanctuary: after first enemy go left in the kitchen to the 1st shrine, follow the level normally to get a 2nd shrine and a broom for the last open area with a bunch of enemies.

Thats it for me, i hope it is a little help/guidance. As for the whole game its basically just a matter of patience and practice. Good luck!

Some things I would like to add to this:
I would also recommend trying to reach the Sanctuary with at most one death due to Yang. You could definitely beat him without dying with enough practice but given he’s the last (and hardest) boss you may as well just brute force him via that massive pool of deaths you can still use.
Feel free to not go with my recommendations on shrines as I was doing this alongside my Wude run but I elected to try and focus on Parry Impact at every possible opportunity. For that reason I actually did not take the shortcut in the Tower, as if you’re good enough you can get enough Score (in both cases - as I fucked up the spare on Jinfeng the first time - I only barely got enough though, so keep that in mind) for two Parry Impact upgrades. As for the other levels, I went with one Parry Impact upgrade and two Weapon Durability upgrades in the Squats, for the Club I probably got a health after takedown, Structure regain after doing an Avoid, and a Structure reserve upgrade. For the Museum I got another Structure reserve upgrade and Structure regain after an Avoid upgrade (don’t remember the last one), while for the Tower I got another health takedown upgrade in addition to the two Parry Impacts mentioned above. Finally, for the Sanctuary, I upgraded weapon damage, and maxed out Structure reserve and Structure regain on Avoid.
As for combat, my general recommendation is to try and push enemies into walls and off stairs as much as possible, the former in particular increases enemies’ Structure lightning fast.

And also, I do agree that this is not as hard as it looks. I was thinking while doing my original run that this was going to be a massive problem, but I ended up getting to Yang without dying, leaving me with plenty of room for the spare (did so at age 24; if I went for the kill I would’ve finished it at age 22). Just keep practicing at the enemies and bosses via the training room and you’ll get it sooner or later.

Since the final boss is quite stuffy and head and shoulders above the others, I recommend approaching his doors at the age of 20 (this will give you the right to make a couple of mistakes). Going through all the locations and bosses without dying is not as difficult as it might initially seem.
The main thing to remember is that the game makes saves after the end of each battle and after death, so if the next battle does not go well, have time to exit to the main menu before you leave and restart the battle. Before bosses or serious battles that risk ending quickly, you can back up your save to a flash drive or to the cloud. This way you can study the boss and practice killing them without dying.

After completing the game, modifiers are unlocked. Select the rejuvenation modifier and go to Yan. It is advisable that you be 20-40 years old before turning on the modifier, which converts to 70-50 years old, respectively. Well, it turns out that the more you die, the closer you are to the trophy.

You don’t have to worry so much and go through the game a couple of times, leveling up the most necessary skills. The last boss is not difficult if you know what to do, namely: phase 1 - parry everything that he throws at you and do not hit only when parrying. Focus doesn't work on it (which is cool). Phase 2 - Dodge all attacks, especially the ult he launches mid-combo. You will notice this as he will jump back and charge, you need to dodge to the side three times and punish with a full combo. I passed it the second time using this tactic.
Hit ONLY when parrying in the first phase.

All bosses are readable. After completing a series of attacks, immediately counterattack. try to find all the figurines and improve your concentration. unlock skills permanently. if you die, give up and replay the level. it's not that difficult)

At the very beginning, I completely pumped up my concentration reserve, and due to this, I came to each boss with full concentration and at the age of 20. 1 phase for all evasion bosses and then after the end of their combo, carry out your entire combo. Use concentration as a last resort, and naturally, if you want to defeat Yan faster, you need to learn the pattern of his attacks and study the effect of parrying on the enemy’s structure, then you will succeed with each of the bosses.
