How to unlock the The Hateful Pole Fighter achievement in Sifu - Definitive Guide
I know this boss has been causing problems for people so I provided a link to a full level 2 no death guide. The last portion of the video is all about tips and strategies on how to take Sean down easier.
Sean is the second boss of the game and essentially serves as a tutorial to perfect your avoid abilities (granted on the first few attempts this may seem impossible as he is very aggressive and intimidating due to his staff and large size). One thing that sets Sean apart from Fajar is that he has much more "hyper armor" meaning that he will power through strikes if you do not wait until after the combos are done. As such: it is highly recommend to wait until after combos to go on the offensive.
Since this is likely going to be your first playthrough: you will also be unable to rely on many of the moves that trivialize this fight and will instead have to punish him with a standard combo; I strongly recommend coming into the fight with a staff that one of the disciples dropped in the room right before him or grabbing any of the ones in the room that are stored on the walls in Phase 1. All Bosses have two phases

Phase 1:
Sean only does high strikes, which can be avoided with . If you are brave enough, you can parry pretty much all of them and then punish when the combo is done to generate more structure damage. Once he does the final swing (these will noticeably have more momentum and there will be a much longer pause before he resumes) then perform a combo of your choosing (for me this is a heavy combo). I also recommend using your focus as early as you can to buildup another bar prior to phase 2. (the standard eye poke one will serve just fine for tacking on a bit more damage. Perform the takedown as soon as it becomes available.Phase 2:
Here's where things "heat up". Sean becomes more aggressive, faster AND will incorporate a sweeping low move that you need to dodge low via . Be wary that he has a set pattern for combos but does not cycle through them in a pattern. Sometimes he will do nothing but sweeping moves and other times he will barely do them! Similar to Phase 1: you will want to wait until after he finishes his combo to return a combo of your own. Perform the takedown as soon as it becomes available and you will end him once and for all!A video showcasing a slow and steady way to tackle Sean (all credit goes to Dan Allen Gaming)

The second boss in the game at first glance seems more difficult, but in fact it is simply thicker than the first. The basis in a fight with him is dodging, accumulating concentration and breaking the distance to reset the structure. In battle with him, it is not necessary to take a weapon, as in the video, but it helps a lot with the “Weapon Mastery” skill.
In the first phase, he has 2 attacks: a circular one along the top and a cross. From both attacks we simply keep a block ( ) and dodge in time using the left stick ( ) down, and at the end of his combo we counterattack. The windows for dodging are decent, it shouldn’t be a problem. If you were able to drag a fresh stick into the next phase, great.
In the second phase, a new combo is added to his starting moveset, which begins with a low attack, which can only be avoided by holding a block and raising the left stick up at the timing. Its beginning can be read from the first frames, but if you don’t have time, you can block the first blow, and then dodge as before.
In the third phase, he very often begins to spam a short combo through the bottom and bounce away. We try to dodge him and accumulate concentration. The circular combo on top has already been rehearsed and allows you to throw some bream at the enemy. But the most difficult moveset is the one that ends with an overhead blow. Takes away a lot of structure and if you find it difficult to read, it's better to just break the distance as soon as he starts doing it.

Sean is actually not that difficult, the main thing is to pinch and stick down.
I upgraded my skill for 2 bars, which extinguishes well with a staff, it went even better.

I found a way to pass the second boss for those who are bad at parrying and those who do not want to lower the difficulty level. In fact, you just need to run around the boss. The boss has two combo attacks in the first phase - 4 hits, after which there is no “window” for hitting and we just run around, and 2 hits, that’s what we need. This attack consists of two attacks - from left to right and circular (easy to see). After this, the boss has a window for several hits. As soon as the circular attack has passed, we run to the boss and make about 4 hits (you will understand the exact number by experience), 2 hits definitely go to the life of the boss. The rest are on his block, but it’s also good because his concentration accumulates. And we run away from his attacks. It happens that the desired attack does not spawn for a long time. Then, after his first shoulder blow, we stand in a block and take three blows in the block, running again. The boss must then attack the desired one. It takes a long time (we are stubborn), but it works.
In the second phase, in addition to these two combo attacks, another one appears with 6-7 hits, ending with an overhead strike, after which there is also a window. It's even better for us because there's one more attack when we can act.
