How to unlock the ÜBERLEBEN achievement in SIGNALIS - Definitive Guide

Before reading on you should know that this solution and the attached video guide are only necessary for the console version of the game. Players of the PC version can make use of debug console commands which may be preferable for those looking for an easier method of unlocking this game's achievements. There's a complete walkthrough guide to do this found here:
SIGNALIS Walkthrough

This achievement is for starting and finishing the game on survival difficulty on a new save without changing the difficulty whilst playing. Despite this being the hardest difficulty, it's actually more of a dynamic difficulty as it gets easier the more you die. For peace of mind, I'd recommend saving frequently and making use of the game's 4 save slots to roll back to if you get stuck at any point.

Optinoob's video guide below shows you how to get all of the game's achievements in a single playthrough step-by-step, and is how I was able to perfect this game on my first ever playthrough. You will be collecting key items, avoiding fights with the common enemies, and stocking up on healing items, useful weapons, and ammo for the few bosses. Since you can only hold up to 6 different items at once it's best not to collect anything unnecessary. Also, note that while the video guide is also a speedrun there is no achievement tied to beating the game under a time limit.

Nearly a 6.0 ratio on this. Is it really that hard? This video makes is sound pretty easy...

@Arsenic 17 It's not really hard, but the guy in the video has completed it multiple times and is making it look very easy. I think it took me around 3 1/2 hours for the completion.

It wasn't that hard following the guide, but trying to do it without would be really tough. I still died 9 times (compared to once on my blind normal playthrough).
I mostly used the video author's text version (linked in the video description) so I'm not sure if it's mentioned in the video, but having the flashlight on aggros enemies. There were a few parts that I was able to sneak past enemies by leaving the light off that made my life a lot easier, especially with the occasionally janky door prompts. I'm certainly not as adept at shoving and dodging enemies.

@Mick - thanks, worked for me on second attempt. Tried to reload my save before the boss fight and follow your solution but it didn't pop. Had to start a new game but I hadn't exited the programme so all I had to do was F7 and 'skip' until the final boss, went through the door then skipped until I seen the credits. Popped at the end. Much appreciated!

Mick Wazowski Thank you very much, I have obtained the two achievements that I was missing. Greetings.

To help anyone doing it on console, he doesn't mention it in the video, but a lot of enemies will react to sound and the flashlight. Try to avoid sprinting until you have been spotted as you can just walk through a lot of rooms by just slowly walking around and saving your healing items for the later levels! Only ever turn your flashlight on in dark rooms where it's necessary!

@Mick Wazowski FTW. I missed setting it to Survival mode. Skipping to the end was a time saver.

Downvoted. Doesn't even say what this achievement is for

@theNoseyParker from the solution: "...for beating the game on survival and getting all the achievements in one run". Not only is it stated, as the video incorporates all achievements it's also ultimately irrelevant anyway

I agree with Nosey, it’s ambiguous what the achievement requirements are based on the description and solution. The solution could be enhanced by specifying the criteria is to beat the game on Survivor difficulty (and nothing related to a speedrun), as well as providing the tip to ensure players start a clean save on Survivor (i.e. set difficulty in menu and then Begin Anew).

The verb Überleben means “to survive” so the clue is in the name, if you can read German. Apparently any of the four endings is fine for the achievement to unlock.

I've updated the solution to better explain what the requirements for the ÜBERLEBEN achievement are as well as give a better summary of the video guide. I tried to be as brief as possible in the original solution, sorry if it caused any confusion.

Also now that the game can be completed via debug console commands on PC it may be preferable to do it that way if you want the quickest and easiest way to perfect the game

@GamePad, it's far from irrelevant. A video that covers the entire game and achievements in a video is far from a good solution for a specific achievement. It's also wrong to say "for ... all achievements in one run" as it can be done in an entirely separate run and even save slot ("profile").

Anyway, I appreciate you updating it @XRebel, up voted now.

From the forum, if you just want/need this achievement via debug, repeatedly use the "skip" command and watch the credits. If you skip the credits too you'll need to try again

I completed the game on my initial run using the walkthrough on Survival mode, didn't unlock. I've since done 3 new playthroughs using the F7 skip method on Survival difficulty, still won't unlock. Not sure what i'm doing wrong. Trying to figure out how to remove my saves to see if that helps

@HotToes4U2C: I also used debug menu, including Kami Mode On, and this achievement unlocked fine for me at end of the game.

If you are on PC and missing only this achievement, using debug menu (F7 - type "ausruinen" and press enter), you can type "skip" all the way until credits and then just wait until they end and stats screen appears. Takes around 5 minutes this way :)

Complete the game on Survival difficulty.
Before starting the game, in the settings (Gameplay > Combat Accesibility tab) change the difficulty to Survival.
Complete the game from start to finish without changing it, to any ending.

From the beginning to the end you must complete the game on survival difficulty. (do not change it during the process, otherwise all your progress will be reset)
