Do not forgive his father (Church).

Have tried getting this ending to work 2-3 times (on normal and hard) and after killing the final boss the screen goes to black and no response ... anyone else experience this glitch?

This achievement can be glitchy for some unknown reason(s). After you kill the final boss and the first cutscene finishes, the screen then goes black and the game and console crashes. The only option is to power off your 360.
I suggest you make this achievement the very last one you need. Make sure you have an extra save right before you trigger the final boss fight.
If the game and console crashes, try again and skip every cutscene just before and after killing the final boss. If this doesn't work and if playing the game from disc, backup your save, uninstall the game and play again without installing to your HD. Load up the save, skip all the cutscenes and hopefully the achievement should then pop.
