Quite misleading. I think this just means he needs to have destroyed all of the fighting area except the last one and you have to kill him while fighting there. Face to face = you can't escape any further.

This achievement unlocked for me after I've beaten Angronn. I can't say for sure what triggered it, but I didn't kill him with a blow to his face. I did hit him in the face twice though, just to be sure. Once early in the fight and once towards the end when we were already fighting in the final section of the arena.
I did kill him in the last section of the arena. However, it seems to me that there's no way to kill him anywhere else than in that final section because he always destroyed the other sections as he lost a certain amount of his health. Or I was just fighting him so late in the game that my weapons were already too weak to kill him faster.
