To get this achievement you need to crest a rouge wave.
To do this first you will need to enter a storm. Storm's can be identified by the clouds above looking like storm clouds and in my experience there was lighting and a large grey wall to enter.
Sail around for a bit over waves and whatnot and your crew should exclaim "Rouge wave" Or something along the lines of that.
Then you should see some massive wave on a semi-steep incline, instead of running away from it sail up it. Make sure before reaching the top your ship is fully repaired as you will take a large amount of damage to your ship from doing this.
Once you reach the top the achievement should pop.

The best place is in the "open seas" part of the map (on the map, they will also have grey circles where the storms are ). That's the only place I found them so far. There will be lvl 10 ships around. Just stay away from them, and you will be fine.
I also recommend putting away your food and items that can be lost if you sink as I did get one shot by the wave.
