It's as simple as it sounds: use your starting ship, the Dhow, and fire with your spear (only Weapon of this Shipclass) on enemy ships. The easiest way is directly in the area to the West of Saint-Anne.

Use the game’s starting ship, the really small one – which is equipped with spears – sail toward an enemy ship and hold 
to aim and 
to throw a spear at the enemy ship. You need to be careful when doing this, as you are, obviously, very outmatched in a fight with a bigger ship that is properly equipped with firepower. You probably won't be sinking many ships with this bold strategy. You may die a couple times, but try and make sure to get as many hits in as you can. After three or four tries, you will get 100 spear throws in, and this trophy will unlock.
