How to unlock the Chief Inspector achievement in Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition - Definitive Guide

This seems glitchy at first, as completing everything listed to 100% will leave you well short.

MISSIONS
There are 30 missions, unchanged from the original. Once you earn the last story achievement, this will be done.

Sleeping Dogs: Definitive EditionBig Smiles All AroundThe Big Smiles All Around achievement in Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition worth 88 pointsComplete Big Smile Lee.

CASES
Complete the 4 story cases. The last one will be fully opened to you at the end of the Fast Girls mission.

Sleeping Dogs: Definitive EditionCase ClosedThe Case Closed achievement in Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition worth 58 pointsComplete all cases.

FAVORS
Fulfill 36 favors. Most of these are listed as yellow speech bubbles and give a decent amount of Face XP. Additionally, all five dates also count as favors.

Sleeping Dogs: Definitive EditionMr. Nice GuyThe Mr. Nice Guy achievement in Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition worth 80 pointsComplete all Favors.

EVENTS
There are 28 open world events. The drug busts combine for 17 of these, while the remaining 11 will only appear on the map once you're close enough.

Sleeping Dogs: Definitive EditionEvent PlannerThe Event Planner achievement in Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition worth 55 pointsComplete all of the open world Events.

JOBS
Work off 50 jobs. There are 20 cop jobs which reward you with cop XP and vehicles, 4 martial arts clubs, 5 missions for Roland, and the remaining 21 for retrieving cars for Tran. He has 20 vehicles, but delivering them all counts as its own job.

Sleeping Dogs: Definitive EditionMartial LawThe Martial Law achievement in Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition worth 35 pointsDefeat all 4 Martial Arts Clubs

Sleeping Dogs: Definitive EditionBounty HunterThe Bounty Hunter achievement in Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition worth 54 pointsComplete all of Roland's Jobs.

RACES
Win 21 separate races. The first three are story related, with the rest appearing on the map. Wait until Face XP is maxed before buying cars to make sure money won't be a problem.

Sleeping Dogs: Definitive EditionWei of the RoadThe Wei of the Road achievement in Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition worth 44 pointsComplete all Street Races.

ZODIAC TOURNAMENT
Complete this Enter the Dragon spoof. Good countering is critical here, which occasionally results in quicktime events. In the penultimate stage, you'll have to defeat all fighters before a ceiling crushes you all; remember to throw opponents into the gears to slow it down, and if you max out the Face bar, prioritize the wrestlers for the gears.

WHEELS OF FURY
These will start showing up on the mission around the 66% mark of the story as Dr. Tang needs someone for his supercar. At first you will only unlock upgrades, but after the fifth story, you unlock the car for yourself.

TRIAD HIGHWAY
Chase down the 18k trucks and destroy them. The trucks start getting escorts before long, but it may be quicker to ignore them and simply go for the tires to disable the trucks immediately.

DEATH BY A THOUSAND CUTS
Buy the Bronzed Statue legendary outfit, drink an Herbal Tea, Dragon Kick, any food, and a massage to prep you for battle. They wield posioned blades, so every time they cut you, your screen goes wonky. The easy way out is to distance yourself from the spawn point, throw your cleaver, pick up their weapon, then repeat; this strategy has the potential problem of catching yourself with the blade and instantly killing yourself, no matter what.

I preferred to only throw when they were at range, then hack and slash up close and personal. Especially as Face meter builds up quickly, it will be hard for the opponent to hit you.

SHAOLIN SHOWDOWN
Defeat 10 monks. You can't grapple or attack them, so wait for them to strike, counter, then follow up with a heavy combo. Once you have Face available, grab the monks and toss them into their environmental hazards. The last enemy calls 30 more monks, but they are all weak enough to fall to one counter or punch.

No collectibles are needed for 100%, nor are the Derby or Cruise missions labeled around town.

Just a heads up on Death By A Thousand Cuts...

If you gather all the statues for the Martial Arts Club and unlock all the moves, by running and striking, (A and X I believe) you can launch a flying chop with the golden blade. The only people who can block this are grapplers, but it kills most of the people with one hit. I got it on my first try doing this. Much easier.

Also, as mentioned above, Herbal Tea and Dragon Kick help immensely.

Just a heads up, regarding DEATH BY A THOUSAND CUTS, I drank Tea, Dragon Kick, had some kind of food, and a massage, and the Triad upgrade "Melee Weapon Boost" (last upgrade on the top)..............made this so damn easy!!!!

Oh geez!! 20 cars for Tran? Damn if all the cars were on one island this would've been MUCH easier.....luckily, I use the DZS-90's EMP blast to stop the car with no damage

Everything in this game is easy, apart from the Derby missions. Any tips for destroying all the cars in the time limit?

Ok I'll try again I was using the y+b counter but when I was hitting him he took loads of damage but never died so after 5 minutes of me pummelling his ass I gave up.

Regarding the derby missions: it seems camping at the start or at a busy intersection seems to work. The stupid auto pilot and the low number of enemy vehicles make this otherwise painful to do chasing them

The guy above saying you need to do the Derby/Cruise events is wrong. You absolutely don't need to do them. Achievement popped for me earlier without doing either of these events.

I can also say, for my part at least, I did NOT have to do the Derby/Cruise missions. I did all the cop jobs, all the favors/side quests, and saved Zodiac Tournament/Wheels Of Fury for after the story was done. I then did all of Tran's missions to top everything off and the achievement popped.

Completionist is on 92.93% and I've completed all except derby and cruise. Looks like i have to do these.

EDIT: Did a cruise control and it didn't go up. Did another Tran mission and it went up 0.5%. Guess I have to do more for Tran

Second EDIT: Can confirm once i did all of Tran's missions the achievement popped. Wish i knew i needed to do those sooner as now have 3.5 million with nothing to spend it on

I had so much trouble with Death By A Thousand Cuts, I never got past about 18 kills. Then (along with the tea and energy drink buffs) tried it with the SWAT outfit equipped which blocks 50% of incoming damage and it was a piece of cake. Just went to town with the indestructible cleaver you start with and racked up the 30 kills whilst only losing a little over half my health bar. Just keep moving so you don't get surrounded.

I second JOHN SWFC's comment using the Swat outfit over the Bronzed Statue for Death by a Thousand Cuts. I made it to thirty kills without taking any damage at all to my meter and without having to resort to throwing the cleaver.

Did all the missions apart from the cruise ones. My last was a Tran. I was at 98.91 complete. Did one more Tran mission and it unlocked. Didn't have to do the gambling gold award either.

OK, so this didn't pop for me, I had the 100% gold in social hub and I had done everything.

***solution! ***

Go and complete (again) the martial arts club in north point - this unlocked it for me

Look Phoenix, I'm sorry we got off on the wrong foot, I was only trying to say that it was weird that myself and one other poster on this solution didn't need to do the derbys, again, I apologize for being a jerk...

For the other achievement hunters, despite what PhoenixKurogane has said, I would still prioritize Derby/Cruise for last. I for a split second thought I had to do them (I did wheels of fury last), but the achievement didn't pop after the last mission when the derby and cruise missions showed up. I was at 99.46%, but I was just missing a random cop job somehow. The achievement popped after doing this cop job and I never touched a derby or cruise mission.

To complete A Thousand Cuts, all you need is a suit that absorbs 50% of the damage and tea, which also reduces the damage. Well, naturally, collect all the altars for health.

Plus all side missions for the police and triads are required. Such as for example "Death by a Thousand Cuts"

It is better to complete this mission at the end when all the altars have been collected, this mission is very frustrating, so we dress for damage and eat everything that comes to hand: Tea - damage from attacks, Baozi - health regen, and with Dragon Strike we grind for damage.

“Death by a thousand cuts” - It’s easy to go through, you chop up the first four and then shower all the rest with knives and axes of corpses. I passed it as soon as I opened it, without any Ichai costumes.

It is also necessary to complete all tasks for stealing a car.

To complete the task “death by a thousand cuts” we put on a suit that adds 40% to the attack and knock down the freaks, they fall in three hits, without it it’s hard, a very nervous task.

Death by a thousand cuts is very easy - you run to the boxes in the left corner of the square, enemies run up 2-3 at a maximum and cut them (in extreme cases, you can resort to throwing knives)

As you progress through the story, be sure to look at your phone and complete ALL tasks in the Car Theft Trend.
This will reduce the time it takes to obtain platinum, so that you will earn money (to buy cars and costumes) and you will need less “cockfighting”.

All random events (alcoholics, trunks, thieves) are 100% necessary. Derby and trips to #district_name are optional.

All 4 additional missions from the DLC are needed for 100% on PS4:
- Death by a thousand cuts
- High speed
- Triad Highway
- Shaolin commotion.
Not like on PS3.
