How to unlock the Martial Law achievement in Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition - Definitive Guide

This used to be pretty tough on the original game, but with all the DLC costumes in this Definition Edition, it's a breeze.

To prepare:
1. Find two melee upgrade statues, and unlock the Leg Breaker skill. This would be the second skill on the lower branch of the skill tree. To use this skill, press cn_B to grapple, and then cn_X, cn_X Hold. This skill renders most enemies (except the big guys and the weapon guys) totally defenseless, and allows you to go behind to press cn_B, cn_B to do an immediate kill.

2. Buy the Bronze Statue costume from the yellow clothing store in the Night Market. This costume reduces damage taken by 60%.

3. Before engaging the fights, drink a Herbal Tea, which reduces damage taken by 50% - together with the costume, you're now pretty much invulnerable to attacks.

4. Eat any food, just in case, for health regeneration.

5. Drink something from your fridge to increase melee damage.

6. Now just head to all four martial arts club icon on the map, and finish the fights.

The club in Central is a bit tricky to get to. You'll see it behind a stretch of seemingly endless shops. To get to it, head west (use the direction on the map's compass, and go west) from the street until you see a set of grey double doors. You can go into this door, go up the stairs, and find the club at the end.

The club in North Point is also rather tricky - it's not where you learn new combat skills. Instead, it's just beside it, surrounded by some fence, and you should see a guy there with a yellow speech bubble.

When fighting, go all out with Leg Breaker, and the cn_B, cn_B follow-up. Remove one enemy at a time, then go for the big guys/ weapon guys with heavy attacks. Use cn_Y to counter if necessary.

The achievement will unlock upon completing the final club fight.

Alternatively, you can rely almost exclusively on counters because they work on all enemy types. To make this approach even easier, equip Vigilante (counters are easier to perform) from the preset costumes. It's best to buff up--tea, energy drink, food--however, even without the buffs, you will activate your face meter and restore health throughout the fight. The key is to focus on the opponent who flashes red and press Y. While you execute the counter, you are temporarily immune from other attacks.

Thumbs up, BTW.

Or as another alternative, make use of the Sun Wukong outfit and a massage and just go full offence - regular dudes go down to a leg-break, grapplers and brawlers take a few heavy attacks. I had all four done in less than 15 minutes.

This achievement won't unlock, I have beaten each tournament multiple times and nothing. Is there any way to check in the game which you have done to see which one isn't counting?

I advise you to put on “hero-avenger” clothes before fights; counterattacks really become much easier. Sold in "legendary clothing", yellow T-shirt icon on the map.

I had clothes -50% damage, plus health restoration and a dragon's fist, I walked in about 20 minutes, drove a taxi to clubs and knocked them out without straining

It’s better to do it at the end of the game, when your skills are maximally upgraded and there are costumes. I recommend the one that increases the time for a counterattack.

To get the achievement you need to win in all martial arts clubs. There are 4 of them in total, one in each district of the city. In each club you have to endure 6 rounds of hand-to-hand combat with quite a large number of opponents. I advise you to wear a special forces suit, it reduces damage by 50% and then you can easily get this achievement

Or the clothes of the “Bronze Warrior” (or something like that) Reduces damage by 60%, and drinking tea when this happened did not take away HP at all
