How to unlock the Ultimate Fighter achievement in Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition - Definitive Guide

The Triad score is much harder to earn than the Cop score. Things that help boost your score are: wearing the correct outfit (up to 15% triad score bonus with the Mountain Master Triad Set), heavy attacks during melee (if you have bone breaker skills, break a bone twice if possible), explosive kills (use grenades and shoot explosive items as much as possible), demolishing cars (shoot cars until they explode or blow them up with grenades), headshots (always aim for the head because it nets you 30 points instead of 10 for just a kill), action disarms, environmental attacks (do a heavy attack first to maximize points), and melee weapon attacks (try not to kill with the weapon, incorporate a weapon attack after a heavy attack and if possible, end with an environment kill). You will most likely have to replay missions after getting upgrades to maximize your score. Also of note, you gain triad experience from the Zodiac Island optional quest.

on a productive note, thanks for the guide. It helps a lot and if you follow the principle as you go, you can get all the triad upgrades without having to replay any missions.

Thumbs up. The Zodiac Island removes the difficulty of the achievement compared to the 360 game without DLC. With the Zodiac Island quest, you only need moderate scores in the main story missions to reach level 10. Whereas the Mountain Master Triad Set helps to some extent, it should be noted that some of the missions with big Triad payoff points impose a particular outfit for the quest and, therefore, replaces whatever outfit Wei had on just prior to the mission.

I used the Retro Triad Outfit you get from the YELLOW vender at the night market, used it for every "green" mission, and popped the cheevo after the credits

Just used the CSI Outfit for all cop (blue) missions, oh and drug busts....

I don't get Zodiac Island, whenever I go back there I can only do the last fight with the tournament master and don't get any triad xp from it :S

IIRC, you can't use Zodiac Island for grinding by returning to it or playing it again. You can get major Triad points by playing it through the first time.

Rayh has a point. I've done every mission in the game including the Zodiac thing. I'm still level 9, replaying missions does not move my exp bar at all. So, you guys are kind of just being pricks. Not helping whatsoever.

To be clear, you only get additional Triad xp when replaying a level if you score a higher triad score than your previous best. You only would receive the difference in Triad xp, not the full amount...

You don't get Triad XP in either DLC pack, to clarify the question above.

Can confirm what Warboy said, Im using the Retro Triad outfit and I can see a noticeable increase in XP gained, for missions that allow you to use it for the duration anyway.

Yes you can use zodiac island for for grinding. I completed it then went back to get the 2 gold medals and completed a mission just for fun and I got triad xp...

My first go round with this on the 360, I got it by the skin of my teeth. This time I literally did everything and still have 1 or 2 main story missions left. I replayed a handful, then I played a main story mission and got level 10. I of course was wearing the mountain outfit when I replayed and played the mission I got it on.

It ain't to bad people...

Just to let people know, i experienced this achievement BREAK on me. To ensure you get this achievement, buy and wear the retro triade attire from the get go. I clocked the game and was boosting TRIAD points through Zodiac tournament and when i hit 10 it did not pop. I then had to restart the game from a new save. Once i finished the last mission which gave me level 10 Triad the achievement popped! Don't screw yourself like i did somehow!

For enemies with guns, instead of killing them with headshots, which only gives 30 Triad score, I found you get a lot more points by disarming them (basic grapple with the proper skill unlocks), kicking them while stunned, then shooting them in the head. If you do it quickly enough you still get the time slowdown when you go to shoot them, and you get around 80 points per enemy. I was running around all the levels grappling everyone and easily maxing out my Triad score. Died a lot, yes, but worth it. Gives the added benefit of giving you disarms for the stat award.

I tried replaying missions I had gotten a ton of Triad XP in previously figuring they’d be the best options, but yeah it does seem you only get the difference and if you filled all 3 triangles of Troad experience then it may even cap. Anyway, after getting nothing for 2 missions I realized I could replay missions from the social hub where I’d only gotten 2 (or in one case only 1.5) triangles and that’s how to get a lot of extra XP.

After completing all main missions, your Triad Score will most likely be around 9 1/2. The only way to boost this the extra bit is to replay the main story missions (these can be accessed in the Social Hub in the main menu). To maximize your score you will want to wear any outfit that gives the 15% Triad Score bonus. Here are some more tips to increase your triad score in missions.

- In melee, grab an enemy with cn_B, hit cn_X cn_X to break their leg. Then go up and spam cn_B to kill. This gives you good XP and is a rather quick way to kill enemies. Larger guys you'll just have to attack and counter as normal.
- When shooting, always aim for a headshot. It helps to hurdle over an obstacle to slow down time. A mission where you can exploit this very well is "Intensive Care".
- If an enemy with a gun is behind cover, hurdle over that obstacle to disarm them for good XP.
- If you're ever in a scenario when you are shooting at chasing vehicles, don't shoot the tires. Focus on blowing it up.
- Focus on getting all your mission scores to around 2 1/2 triangles full.

Don't try to grind one mission. The only way to increase your overall Triad Score is by increasing your best score on individial missions. So start with improving ones with 1 to 1 1/2 triangles filled and work your way through.

There are only 10 Traid Upgrades. So you have to reach rank 10 to unlock all Upgrades. You unlock Traid Upgrades by completing Traid related missions. These missions are slightly different than the Cop missions. In Traid missions you start with no points, blank triangles.. The way you level up is highly dependant on how creative you get with your kills. Also there are certain clothing and items that help boost your Traid XP, allowing you to rank up faster.
If you do not reach level 10, you can replay any Traid mission. You may replay mission by pressing  > Social Hub > Missions.

It is best to find clothes + 15% to triads in the Center and complete the mission. So stable is enough.

The three North Point missions marked with an exclamation point in a yellow circle (Death by a Thousand Cuts, Triadic Highway, and Shaolin Mayhem) also provide triad points. Zodiac tournament too.

If after completing the game you were unable to score the required number of points, then you can replay the story missions where you earned few triad points!

The easiest way to finish off is after completing the Zodiac Tournament. You can repeat tournament missions that give triad points, but each mission a maximum of 2 times.

I recommend replaying the initial missions; you probably didn’t earn many points there. Break limbs and then finish off the enemy.

Unlocked in the penultimate mission. I advise you to wear clothes “+5/10/15% of triad experience” for the main missions, where they give triad experience, otherwise you will have to replay missions where you earned little experience, some side missions also give this same experience, a diabolical tournament for example .
