How to unlock the Ultimate Fighter achievement in Sleeping Dogs - Definitive Guide

You will most probably not get this achievement by just playing the game unlike the cop level. You will need to replay the triad missions by going into Social hub - Missions and then select one. Try to do missions you scored low because you need to get a higher mission score than before to get any XP.

During missions:
-During hand to hand combat grapple and break the leg of enemy's (X-hold X) then when they are stunned press (B-B) to ninja kill them which will get you a lot of XP
-When shooting, make sure to go for head shots, this is easiest done when using a pistol or rifle, however the game is pretty forgiving when it comes to head shots
-In a car chase try to kill all enemies and try to blow up cars and bikes instead of just shooting tiers however doing both gives you even more XP

Certain clothes give you a triad XP bonus you can get a bonus of 5% 10% and 15%
15% Bonus clothing
- J. Jiggler Straight Leg Jeans - $21,620 - Purchased at Achete
-Couronne Puffy Vest Red - $28,800 - Purchased at Bruno James
-Achete Stand Up Boots Black with Brown Sole - $17,400 - Purchased at Bruno James

Both Stores are located in Central

Here's a tip: during missions where you're in a car and have to perform an action hijack to proceed, don't do the action hijack right away. This is an opportunity to farm triad xp. The thing is, during these sequences, the car you need to hijack is actually indestructible. Meaning, you can shoot it and slam into it all you like (even the tires), and you'll just keep accumulating xp without destroying the car. Careful, though, the driver is NOT indestructible, so be careful you don't accidentally shoot him through the windows (big xp for a headshot, then a mission fail).

Thanks, great tips! The leg break/ninja kill combo alone helped out a ton.

Leg breaking and ninja kill are the way to go. What worked for me was to replay missions I did NOT have 3 full red triangles. When I got then full the upgrade bar shot up. Some of the early missions are best as when you originally did them you didnt have all moves unlocked.

I'm earning close to no XP at all, and there's like a dickhair of the bar left to level 10. It is taking ages so I guess Imma do the other cheeco's first and eventually come back to this one

Get the 15% outfit ASAP, follow the repetitive fighting style and go for headshots as much as possible - I managed to get this with two story missions left to go. Soooooo glad I didn't get that little DLC now....

Can you get this while playing the DLC? I was trying to complete the main game first then start the DLC, but if it means a grind, I would save this until I start the other stories

How does the DLC affect this?

I should've answered this back when I figured it out, since no one told me. When playing DLC, you have different experience trees, so this cannot be done when playing through the DLC.

You get Triad XP from doing story missions. Unlike the cop missions there is no way to get more xp other than the missions themselves. So you want to maximize how much XP that you get for each mission. You see XP for each move during combat next to the mini map. It will say +30 for a head shot and so forth.
If you can possibly afford it, download the top dog silver pack for 160 MSP ( I think something like that. The gold is 240 and the silver is less ) This will net you 8500 XP or so at the beginning of the game and will almost guarantee you getting this. This will start you out at level 4 and get you 4 of the 10 upgrades
If you can't do that, here are some ways to get more XP:

1. Start trying to build up your Face XP as soon as possible. You want to get to level 7 as fast as possible so you can buy the:
J. Jiggler Straight Leg Jeans,
Couronne Puffy Vest Red
Achete Stand Up Boots
Here's a video showing them and where they are:
These will give you a 15% bonus during the Triad missions so the earlier you get it the more XP you can get, but you need to be face level 7 to buy them.
You raise your Face XP Level by completing Favors, Races, Drug Bust and completing Martial Arts Club fights. Races and Martial Arts club get you the most face. However you need to unlock some cars to do the races so I did the races right after the Wedding mission.

2. If you die or fail a mission, it's better to cancel the mission and replay it from the start instead of redoing from a checkpoint. This is a giant pain because the loading screen is way longer, and if you die, you must pay the hospital bill. Also you start back at the hospital and will have to go back to the mission start. However when you continue from the checkpoint, you lose any XP you gained up to the point of mission failure. If it's towards the end of a mission, that could be a lot of XP.

3. The more Jade Statues you get, the mode varied mores you'll have access to. The first time you hit an opponent with a certain move you will get good XP. However if you keep doing the same move, most times you will start to get less and less XP so it's good to keep doing different moves. The only exception is noted below.
I'd try getting the Grapple and Leg break and the Ninja kill as fast as possible. These will give you good XP. Also if you can finish the Jade statues early as possible, the last move you learn is the Dim Mak. This will net you the most XP. The reason why is: you can hit each opponent with it at least 3-4 times before they die. And even though you will get less and less each time, you will end up with more XP at the end. Try it and see. Also you will almost never be damaged when you use it. It's boring and it takes a long time, but it's worth it for XP.
4. When using a gun, the best thing to do many times is to try hitting something that is explosive to blow up 1 or more of your opponents. When you aim, look for something that glows. If there is 1 or more opponents close to a glowing object, shoot that to get a good bonus.
Otherwise, head shots are the best to get if you can.
Also don't forget to Vault over cover and get some easy slow mo Headshots.
5. During car chases, always try to kill the people in the cars as opposed to shooting out the tires to get more XP

6. Try to drive carefully during missions so you don't cause damage to people around you and to other objects. You will lose XP this way.

Many of these things I'm posting I didn't initially do so it took me longer to get this achievement.
If you finish the game and don't have all 10 upgrades, don't worry it's possible to redo the missions to get a higher score.
Hit the start button and scroll down to the social Hub and scroll over to the missions tab. It will show you what score you got for each mission and also if your friends played this game what they got too. Here's the highest score for each mission that I found so you'll know how you did and if you can improve your scores much. Some of these scores are pretty impressive.
For the record, most of these are my friends scores, not mine.

1. Vendor Extortion - 551
2. Night Market Chase - 758
3. Stickup and Delivery - 739
4. Mini bus Racket - 370
5. Club Bam - 1520
6. Listening In - 340
7. Chain on Evidence - 75
8. Payback - 1338
9. Uncle Po - 445
10. Bride to Be - 604
11. The Wedding - 1469
12. Mrs. Chu's Revenge - 1424
13. Meet the New Boss - 1705
14. Loose Ends - 508
15. Final Kill - 1645
16. Initiation - 503
17. Dockyard Heist - 509
18. Intensive care - 1165
19. Important Visitor - 330
20. Fast Girls - 510
21. Bad Luck - 555
22. Conflicted Loyalties - 526
23. The Funeral - 1063
24. Civil Discord - 2686
25. Buried Alive - 1650
26. The Election - 2334
27 Big Smile Lee - 2367

You can also just purchase the top dog silver pack DLC after the game and if you're at level 9 you'll get it for sure.
Good luck

Great guide thanks! I have most missions to 2 1/2 triangles, but I'm about 25% away from filling the level 10 bar, thanks for the tips, I'll try the Dim Mak attack, I did notice that it goes down with each use but I'll give that a try on the ones that I have not been able to improve uppon

Thanks! I finally got around to grabbing this one. Just needed to replay a few missions and be extra brutal (mainly just some shooting ones where I just aimed for headshots more). Now onto getting the Gold stat awards...

Btw, you only get less points when you use a move too quickly over and over. So if you run around or use the LT+A move to roll over enemies a couple of times you can then do another Dim Mak and get the 30 instead of it going down.

A little late but I think the XP score is combined score for your Triad and your Police ratings. Some missions I had quite a high score but was missing a full triangle for the Triad score. I also had some with full Triad (3 triangles) but half of the Police score which netted me a lower overall.

This one is a bit harder and you probably wont unlock it when you finish this game. You will have to replay some missions, getting a high gangster rank. Here are some hints:

1. In a melee break the legs of an enemy by grappling him, and then X - X (hold). Afterwards he will be stunned and you attack again. That'll net you quite some points.

2. While shooting use headshots as much as possible. Sometimes a pistol is better than an SMG. A Rifle is the best for this.

3. If possible, always destroy cars and kill people via explosions. Also goes for car chasing. Rather make them explode, than shooting the tires.

If you have access to the Shaolin Showdown mission from the Martial Arts Pack (Some Pre-order bonus?), you can grind Triad xp there. Fill the three triangles, let them knock you out and repeat.

Is there any non-DLC Mission which is good for a grind?

I tried "The Funeral" and "Club BamBam" which are very short and the one is just shooting and the other only melee. I got scores around 1000-1500 but the bar from 9 to 10 only fills some milimeters :D

The gold pack is on sale for 120. Save yourself from aggravation. I played the whole game without the 15% clothes. Now I have them and my level isn't moving. I think they did it on purpose to sell the gold pack, but I bit (and bought).

This was too much of a pain in the backside for me. And, is it just me or is 'Buried Alive' impossible to get 3 triangles on?

If you are level 9 you only have to buy the silver pack to rank to level 10 instead of a gold pack. Saves you a little money if desperate.

Don't forget to mix up your moves in combat too - using the same thing repeatedly will drop the amount of points you get for it. Environmental attacks get a healthy dose of points too,

Another thing to try is to make sure you're wearing clothes that give you a triad XP bonus. Blue Lantern (5%) is available from the start and once you're face level is high enough you'll get access to Red Pole (10%) and Mountain Man (15%) gear. By switching this around with gear that had the bonus cop XP I unlocked it without having to replay any missions :)

You can buy the "Silver" and "Gold" Triad packs with MS Points too. They will GREATLY increase your Triad ranking. I went from a 0 to a 2 with the "Silver" Pack and a 5 to a 10 with the "Gold" Pack

The most annoying achievement to get. I redid my levels where I got 1 and a half triangles and used the Blue Mountain outfit for the 15% bonus. Took about 5 missions to get my rank from 9 and a half to 10. Now I can put this game away until they release DLC.

Get the mountain master triad clothing set which gives 15% bonus Triad XP (From Bruno James and Achete in Central) ASAP.

During mission
- Do lots of leg breaking and finishing off with a ninja move (B+B)
- During shooting, do lots of disarming, fluid striker moves and aim for headshots

Its late, but since no one has stated it before, ill put it:

From my experience, when re-playing missions to get your triad level higer, aim for those with less Red Triangles full.

No matter if a mission goes for +2k points or just 200, if you got a 200 points mision done with 1 full red triangle, and then replay it and fill the 3 red triangles, your overall triad level will get a better increase than making a 2k points mission go from 2 to 3 full red triangles.

So, instead of aiming for super high scores on the missions with more points, just replay any missions where you still dont have the 3 red triangles full.

If you have the Top Dog Silver Pack DLC, this achievement will be made a world easier for you. A lot of players seem to have an issue obtaining this achievement, because Triad experience is earned much slower than Cop or Face experience. If you're having problems, try putting on a clothing set that boosts your Triad experience gain. Basically, you want to be pretty creative with your kills to earn Triad experience, so grappling into objects and vault kills are your best bet. You will automatically begin missions with no Triad rating, and you will have to build it up gradually over time. If you're still not level 10 by the end of the game, you will need to replay missions.
0
0

There are only 10 Traid Upgrades. So you have to reach rank 10 to unlock all Upgrades. You unlock Traid Upgrades by completing Traid related missions. These missions are slightly different than the Cop missions. In Traid missions you start with no points, blank triangles.. The way you level up is highly dependant on how creative you get with your kills. Also there are certain clothing and items that help boost your Traid XP, allowing you to rank up faster.
If you do not reach level 10, you can replay any Traid mission. You may replay mission by pressing  > Social Hub > Missions.

0
0

Every time you complete a mission of any sorts, you will gain experience towards Triad upgrades in addition to cop experience. Note that this is the only time you can earn experience.

Triad experience is earned by defeating/killing triad members, performing different types of combos during brawling sequences, or by just blowing stuff up and causing mayhem. Putting in a good performance such as getting Headshots, using a variety of Melee Combat Moves, Disarms, Vault Attacks/Kills, and Environmental Kills reward you with higher Triad XP. Normal kills and repetitively using the same melee moves will result in lower XP earned.

Equipping Clothing Sets such as the Red Pole/Mountain Master Triad sets rewards you with bonus percentage of the Triad XP earned. If you have not unlocked this by the end of the story, you may replay missions from the Social Hub. You will be awarded with additional XP only if your new Triad score is higher than your previous one.
