How to unlock the The Hunter Has Become.. The Other Thing achievement in Slime Rancher - Definitive Guide
Snares are slime science gadgets that you put down on the purple nodes that show up when you enter Slime Science mode. In order to begin using slime science you must first unlock the Laboratory area behind the ranch.
In order to access the slime science menu, press down on the D-Pad and you will see purple spots all over the map where you can place slime science gadgets. When you first begin using slime science you have no gadgets. In order to start placing gadgets, you must create them at the laboratory, using the correct materials. The snare is a gadget that you set down and then place a food into. If you go to sleep, when you wake up, there will be a Gordo slime in the place where you put the snare.
There are 3 types of snares, basic, advanced and master. If you place a basic or advanced snare the resulting Gordo may not be the Gordo you wanted to attract. Meaning it is semi random. But with a master snare, putting a certain slime's favorite food will 100% determine the resulting Gordo slime.
In order to unlock the master snare, you must get to 7Zee reward level 20, which takes a cumulative total of 291,500 Newbucks to achieve. Once you have the master snare, place it down anywhere in slime science mode and then shoot a roostro into the middle of the gadget. Go to sleep and when you wake up you will get the achievement. You can obtain this achievement without using a master snare but your chances aren't guaranteed when not using a master snare.
Users in the comments are stating that they have had rather high success with using novice and advanced snares as well. So I would definitely give the lesser snares a try, before committing to the Master Snare. Of course if you are working towards the Golden Sureshot to get the Hat Trick! achievement, you will receive the Master Snare regardless. This is because the Master Snare only requires 7Zee level 20 and the Golden Sureshot requires 7Zee level 22.

Novice will get you a Hunter Gordo.
Not a 100%
Placed 3 snares, my first one gave me a Pink Gordo, the other 2 gave me both Hunter Gordos. All given Roostros.

4th trap also a Pink Gordo. Is there something I'm doing different from everyone else using Novice traps? Are you putting all down at once or 1 at a time?

Here's my video guide. I had no issues getting it, but I had already unlocked all areas when I did it.
Ace Annihilates's solution is spot on. I highly recommend reading his/hers first before reading mine. This is for those who keep getting Pink Gordos no matter how many times you try, even with Master Snares.
I placed down probably 15 Novice snares and 5-6 Master Snares all resulting in the same annoying Pink Gordo Slime. I tried everything mentioned in the above guide and nothing seemed to work. I searched online and found nothing. Here's everything I did to finally get what I needed.
First, I earned another key and opened the door to the Moss Blanket. I had been jumping over the door instead of opening it because I didn't want to waste a key. I figured maybe because the door is locked, the game doesn't recognize me having access to the Hunter slimes.
Second, I fed the Hunter Gordo located in the moss blanket 50 some chickens to make it pop. I figured, maybe I can only snare Gordo slimes that I've popped.
Location to Moss Blanket and the Hunter Gordo slime can be found in the videos below.
Lastly, I built 1 Master Snare and 2 Novice Snares and grabbed 3 Roostroos roaming the area. Once I was ready, I ran to the Moss Blanket and placed all 3 snares in the same area as the Hunter Gordo was located. Once I did that, I placed the Roostroos on the traps and jumped into the water which knocked me out. Once I awoke, the achievement popped.
Here's how you get to Moss Blanket:
Here's where the Hunter Gordo is located (You'll have to skip ahead in the video):
Finally, here is my clip of me unlocking the achievement:
