How to unlock the Conserving oxygen achievement in Sniper Elite 3 - Definitive Guide

This achievement requires you to hold you breath whilst scoped in for a total of 3,600 seconds

(can be accumulated over all games modes)

When you are fully scoped in on your rifle, you can Focus your shot with Right Bumper or by depressing the Left analog stick. The meter on the left side of your reticle indicates how much longer you can hold your breath to steady your shot. when you heart rate reaches around 60 BPM you will have a full focus bar

If you are unsure and/or want to know how much longer you need to hold you breath for you can check your current time by going to "Service Record > Statistics > Kills" you should see one that says "Time in Empty Lung (in seconds) - XXXX." just get to 3600 and you will see the achievement pop

Just for giggles, I timed the amount of time provided by a single (full) bar of Empty Lung. Came out to ~16.5 seconds. That means that this achievement requires around 220 full uses.

I finished this game 2 times. First coop on authentic then on easy to get 100%. I played all challenges and 3-4 xbl matches. I got 32 SECONDS ! WTF?

yeah, same here. For me it states 30 seconds overall. Seems to be buggy and I hope that it is just the display. Otherwise it seems impossible to get this one with this kind of glitch.

I did the base game plus Churchill DLC and ended at 2,500. A heads up to do some more breathes during the game to avoid having to grind out after the game.

All the DLC, a co-op Authentic run, and a solo Cadet run plus a bunch of miscellaneous cleanup, and not even to 600. Guess I've got some fun times ahead of me...

I think the issue has been resolved with an update to the game recently. Out of curiosity I started the game and now the counter shows "3045." - so my take is, it has just been an issue on displaying the number correctly (last digits being cutoff).

To add to AideyH solution, a couple of tips for newbie cheevo hunters...

1. Take a knee or go prone. You regen focus faster when in these positions as opposed to standing up.

2. This will require you pay attention to your focus meter. No need to fill up your focus meter. Simply take it to the 3 meter bar and press RB or LS and drain your meter again. The last part of the meter takes longer than the first three and is a time waster, yet drains as fast as all the other parts of the meter. I simply put on a soccer game and just looked over when it was regenning to the 3 meter bar and hit RB all over again. UP to you tho.

3. You never have to leave "Zoom" mode. You can hold LT and just keep focus on the focus meter.

4. I did this on a private deathmatch solo, 30 mins.

I finished the campaign, got everything on my first run through so it took some time, but averaged about ~2000 seconds. Did this method once and got about ~800 seconds. Did it on the second and finished the cheevo in with 7 mins to spare.

This is mostly earned via normal playtime. Usually, you'll either complete it during the campaign or you'll be quite close to finishing it. To get a full hour, you must hold your breath for 3600 seconds. You can view your current time (in seconds) by going to Service Record > Statistics > Kills > Time in Empty Lung. To farm it, simply load up any mission and just keep draining your focus time and repeating. Go prone for the quickest refills.

This is a cumulative achievement and can be attained through natural progression, but can also easily be boosted using the "Load Last Save" exploit describe in the roadmap of this guide. The best way to boost this is to start a new campaign mission, wait at the start until your heartbeat goes down, and focus bar fills up to the top. At this point, make a game save. Now, just aim down your sights, and hold your breath until the bar goes all the way down, and once it does, just reload the save and keep repeating this process until the achievement unlocks.

The total time needed for the achievement is 3600 seconds and your progress can be checked at any time using the Service Record location in the main menu.
