How to unlock the Keeping your Distance achievement in Sniper Elite 4 - Definitive Guide
The below steps are what I used exactly to gain this achievement (some of these steps may not be required but I will detail them just incase). Unfortunately you will have to do whatever the requirement for the achievement is again, in my case getting the 100km again but at least this does seem to actually unlock glitched achievements while allowing you to keep your original save.
1. Go to the Games & Apps section
2. Hover over Sniper Elite 4 and press the select button
3. Go down to manage games and add ons, from here select (Press A on) the saved data section
4. Click on your gamertag and delete the saved data from your CONSOLE ONLY. Do not delete it from everywhere if you want to use your old save after you are done
NOTE: if you want to return to your old save, ensure that you only delete the save data from the console and then later on when it asks you to either sync data or select data (that being when it asks if you want to use data stored on the Xbox or on the cloud) press cancel in both the situations
5. From here launch the game as usual. When the Xbox prompt pops up to sync your data ensure that you press cancel before it is done
6. If done correctly you should have a brand new level 1 character
7. From here complete the criteria again for any achievements you may need
8. If you need to leave the game/ turn off the Xbox and come back to it a later date: When the game restarts it will prompt you to select either the Xbox data or the cloud data, PRESS CANCEL otherwise you will go back to your original save and lose any progress you were making towards any glitched achievements
9. After you have unlocked your achievement, delete the save data again for the console, following steps 1 - 4 exactly
10. Relaunch the game and you should have your old/ original save
I have tested this and can confirm I unlocked "Keeping Your Distance" and the DLC Achievement "Full Marks". I also have my original level 50 save back after having only reached around level 11 to get these 2 achievements.
I should mention that the achievements did not pop up on screen but did unlock I'm the background.
If anyone has any questions or thinks this needs further clarification, please let me know.
Each kill is approx 140m/150m and when I did it, I was able to tag around 11 people so per save/reload I was accumulating around 1540m/1650m. Given that I started this process when I was around 70k, it took me around 20 reloads. This was the best way I could think of and it took around 1/2 hours but got there eventually. :)
To grind out the remaining kilometers load up the mission "Regilino Viaduct". From the start tag the enemies on the bridge as these are almost 200-500 meters away from the start point of this mission. Make a save, then kill the tagged enemies. Reload your save rinse and repeat until you unlock this trophy.
The game measures distance in meters, so 100 kilometers is 100,000 meters. This is cumulative and counts for all game modes. This will probably unlock naturally as you play the game. To check your progress, press then navigate to Service Record > Statistics > General and look for ‘Total Kill Shot Distance.’
If you’re anxious to get this out of the way, a good place to farm distance is at the beginning of Mission 3, ‘Regilino Viaduct’. After you’ve spoken to the people in the camp, walk over to the wooden overlook and start the mission. When the mission begins, stay on the overlook (don’t climb down) and you will see a railway bridge in the distance. Using your binoculars, you will see about five or six enemies to tag, all over 550 meters away. After you’ve tagged them, make a manual save. Back in the game, proceed to kill each enemy, then reload your save and repeat. You’ll get between 3000-3500 meters per reload and each opportunity will take about a minute (depending on your precision). Keep repeating this procedure until the achievement unlocks.
