How to unlock the Glutton For Punishment achievement in Solar Ash - Definitive Guide
This is the hardest achievement in the game but if I managed to get it is very much possible for anyone to get it too. Here are a few general tips on how to beat it as quickly as possible:
- This luckily isn't a "one life" type gamemode like I was initially worried. You can die as many times as you want without worrying about the whole save file being reset (unlike Ori on hardcore). The difficulty comes in the form of boss fights being very precise and enemies resetting you to the last checkpoint if you take any damage.
- On your first run/save of the game get the 100% on a save file achievement first (on easy), it unlocks a very good suit that you can equip early on your hardcore run.
- Boss killing you reset all shield/health crates so when you die don't worry about stashing shield caches for when you need them. That being said anything but the boss turning red and killing you does not reset the shield crates.
- Losing all HP while you fight a boss resets it's health bar completely.
- You must choose the true ending for the achievement to work (where you fight Wretched Rei)
- You can die as many times as you want on the final (Wretched Rei) boss fight. Nothing gets reset.
- You will have to utilise using the button for slowing down time. Apart from it slowing down time it also gives you extended range on grappling hook and grappling hook attacks.
If you have any tips of your own please leave them in the comments and I'll include them accordingly.

This was quite a bit more difficult than I expected, but I was able to do it. Game clock said 3:18 at the end. I almost wanted to give up at the beginning because it’s SUBSTANTIALLY different. To anyone who gives it a go, it’s a battle of attrition!

Yeah, without the Absolution suit Hardcore is simply stupid. A one life mode would’ve been infinitely easier.
