After the maze and you have the fight with 2 wights, 2 skeleton archers and a skeleton knight, you'll reach a door. When you open it the conversation will immediately start, so make sure you save prior in case you fail, though there is an achievement for killing him which is only possible if you fail. All the more reason to save.
