How to unlock the Resignation achievement in Somerville - Definitive Guide

Chapter 13, section 3:

When you pick up the flare and follow the passageway to the couch with your family, interact and sit with them. The screen will slowly fade to black, then play a short cutscene.

Achievement will unlock when section 3 reloads.

The achievement is earned in the final chapter 14, not this.

I wrote this guide immediately after earning the achievement; I understand it’s possible to earn this during chapter 14, but it 100% unlocks in the situation I wrote in my guide, which would be earlier than the chapter 14 solution.

Popped for me 1st time but the game was patched today so that may have fixed it.

had this weird glitch doing this. my character loaded on just a grey screen eternally falling.

Had the same glitch as peezy617. Brought up the menu and selected "Restart from checkpoint." Went through the passageway again and the ending sequence played out correctly the second time.

(Yes this is essentially what CheatTheDeath stated, but I figured it was worth writing the steps out explicitly.)

Chapter 13-3: after you grab the torch and start to melt forward you will eventually reach a couch with the character's wife and kid. Just sit.

This is one of five possible endings to the game; however, this is more of a fake out. In Chapter 13 Checkpoint 3 you will come across your family on the couch. The are fake; however, you can choose to sit with them by walking into the couch. This will begin a short cinematic and return you to the start of this checkpoint.
