To unlock the War of the Worlds ending, in the final chapter and section, hold hands with the ring of people with A, then hold both triggers.

Earnt at the very end of the game in Chapter 14. Head up the stairs where you normally carry out a Simon Says puzzle. Instead hold "" to link hands with the ring of people, then hold "+" to charge up your purple ability until it explodes. This will trigger the War of the Worlds achievement.
