After obtaining a Swarm Item (will appear as a single bee in your item slot), drop down to 4th place or lower and shoot it in front of you. With luck, the top 3 racers will run into it, netting you the achievement. This is easier to get on smaller tracks such as either of Samba's stages or the first Sonic stage.

The hardest part is getting the swarm pick-up... I've played loads of matches without getting it. Either I'm very unlucky or the odds of getting one are lower than getting the other types.

Same here. The problem is getting the stupid pick-up in the first place. Any tips on how to get the pick-up?

This achievement is not exactly true in its description as I got it while I was second. You just have to get a triple swamp sticker. You will probably unlock it on a lucky throw. Good luck!

More luck than anything. Choose C class and try to make sure 1st, 2nd and 3rd are in a tight space such as the narrow corridors in burning rangers, the beginning of panzer dragoon, or tricky corners like the monkey ball stage when drifting towards the boat section. There are many places to obtain this.

Make sure you're not in 3rd place or above when you have Swarm. Use Swarm, and hope that the top 3 racers get hit by the swarm. If so, the trophy will unlock.
