How to unlock the Ancient Defiance achievement in Sonic Frontiers - Definitive Guide
This achievement is related to the story,
When you enter the fight the first thing you should do is climb the tower, once at the top you can climb the boss.
When you have become super sonic the boss will launch rockets at you, wait for them with RT+LT and make a counter by pressing X. the rockets will hit the enemy and when you get close he will try to attack you, counter again, this will allow you to attack with X and decrease its life.
When he has half his life left he will start to throw some pink circles at you, in addition to the rockets, follow the same technique as before but this time when you are in front of he, he will attack twice so you must parry once, release the buttons and quickly make parry again.
Then, he will launch rockets towards you, you will see a big red circle and a white circle coming out of Sonic, when the white circle aligns with the red one you must press X, repeat the strategy until you defeat him.

Sadly it seems to be bugged. I'm at the final boss of the game but this success has never been unlocked for me

Story-related; cannot be missed.
After obtaining six of the chaos emeralds on Ares Island and talking to Knuckles enough, you'll eventually open a cave and get an objective to go through. Do so and just follow the boost pads through the cave to exit on the other side, where the giant flying Guardian is waiting.
Like with the previous fight, make sure you have plenty of rings before you start it. You can farm them with Cyloop on the ground, or you can head up the path/rails in the pond off to the left, which has a bunch of 10x rings up top. There are also rings on your way up to the Guardian this time, and during the fight, so it's not as bad as the previous fight.
This Guardian takes longer to reach. You need to first climb to the top of the top ahead and to the right. This is pretty straightforward to do. Once at the top, walk out onto the platform and wait for the cinematic of the Wyvern flying around. When it flies close by, you'll see the targeting pop up for you to homing attack it. Do so to start the first part of this battle, which is reaching it to get the last chaos emerald.
The first phase works like the Squid and Fortress Guardians where you need to run on its tail and avoid all of the obstacles, all while avoiding falling by making sure you double jump and boost jump at the right time, and homing attack objects to stay airborn. It can be pretty hectic and chaotic, and unfortunately if you die, you start back before even climbing the tower, which is frustrating. Just be ready to jump and boost at all times, and you should be able to make it within a try or two. Once you get to the body, you can finally hop on and collect your last emerald and turn into Super Sonic.
The second phase works similar to the previous boss: avoid the attacks it throws at you, and then parry its tail attack, then follow up with many attacks of your own. This section works like an auto scroller, so you're really just going to be using to move around the screen to avoid rockets and hopefully grab some more rings. I don't think boosting as any effect here. After enough time, the camera will pull back and off to the side. This indicates the Wyvern is about to tail swipe you. Hold and to parry it, and then it'll be open to homing attack it over and over. Hopefully you can take off half of its heath in one cycle. With half its health gone, it'll now also shoot laser rings all around in addition to the rockets. I found it best to just circle around the screen to avoid everything. Once you get to the end and the camera pulls back for its tail swipe, note that it does two tail swipes. YOU MUST RELEASE AND AND THEN RE-HOLD THEM AFTER THE FIRST ATTACK. You can't just hold both through both attacks. After you parry the first swipe, release both button and immediately hold them again for the second attack. After the second parry, you'll be able to attack it again, and hopefully finally finish it off. At the end are a few simple QTEs to perform to wrap up this fight.
