How to unlock the Greased Lightning achievement in Sonic Generations - Definitive Guide
Here's a video showing all the spots you need to make sure you jump at. You want to take the high ground at all times, because the lower route is full of loops and swinging platforms that will slow you down.
Also, if you still struggle with certain jumps even after practicing, I recommend equipping the Time Brake skill. It lets you slow down time whenever you want, both the game slows down and the clock.

^ The one that lets you "stop on a dime" is helpful, I've found.

well, not really. if you do it right, you shouldn't even stop other than when you charge up your spin dash. Only other one I can think of that might help would be power sneakers to give you some extra speed. It really just comes down to learning the timing of the jumps.

This will be very close and usually you will barely get this at around 53+ seconds. However this will become very easy with enough practice.
Below is a video of mine, showing the path I suggest you take (spin dash when I do, and jump when I do.) as well as show you how to get 3 other Achievements.

The Ring King achievement in Sonic Generations worth 25 pointsReach the goal without dropping any of the rings you collected in GREEN HILL Act 1.
To get this achievement you have to Beat Classic sonic's First level or Green Hill Act 1. To do this I did a Spin Dash (x button) Right at the start till the first ramp where the ring box falls from the tree. Then just run as fast as you can to the first jump kill the enemy and take the lower path. then Spin dash and run till you hit the first star spring to the next hill and right before the ramp down jump to the path across and take that and stay along the top paths continuing to spin dash till you fall run into the yellow push spring and just spin dash and finish the level. I would play the level a few time to get used to the different paths, and I sure there are other ways but this is how I got it.
It wouldn't be a Sonic Trophy List without the traditional "Clear GREEN HILL within one minute". There are multiple routes in doing this however here is a good recommended route step by step:
- At the start of the stage hold and spin dash forward, once you land move forward and you'll encounter two crabs and a bee... spin jump and hit the Bee and bounce yourself to the surface above him.
- Spin Dash and proceed forward, once you hit your first checkpoint jump immediately and you'll be led into a secret path, here get ready to jump twice and stop at a solid platform
- Once you stop Spin Dash forward, you will land onto a crumbling green surface, continue to run you will have jump to another collapsing green surface and then on top the yellow spring.
- Once you land spin dash forward and you end up going up three red springs, after the third of the three red springs aim yourself so that you land on the rock platform in the middle, here you want to spin jump on the enemy bee and on the red spring to the surface above.
- Finally charge and spin dash and once you let go and launch yourself quickly jump so that you don't fall to the area below, if done correctly you should be running straight for the goal.
