How to unlock the Time Attacker achievement in Sonic Generations - Definitive Guide

Make sure you've gone through all of the levels in the game. It's not necessary to beat the game, but you have to beat all of the Act 1 and Act 2 levels in the game so they are unlocked in Ranking Attack Mode.

Once you have them all unlocked, quit to the main menu. Scroll down under Continue, and go to Xbox Live. From this menu, select Ranking Attack.

Now all you have to do is play through all the levels again. You must finish all of the Act 1 levels as well as the Act 2 levels for the achievement. There are no lives on Ranking Attack, and it does not matter what your time is, just finish the levels and you'll get it.

This is more tedious than challenging, but at least it will get you some practice for the S Ranks. Good luck!

Note - It seems doing the levels out of order may delay the popping of the achievement. If you do the levels out of order, apparently quitting out to the main menu, going back into Ranking Attack mode, and doing Green Hill Zone Act 1 again will make the achievement pop.

So it doesn't matter if you die at all? Cuz that's the reason I just gave up on the time trial achievement in Sonic 4..

Dying only slows you down, so it really doesn't matter in this case unless you want a high position on the leaderboards.

Yeah, I kept restarting after dying because I didn't want a bad time. Now that I'm better at the game I may have to go through some of them again.

got all times for both acts but achievement wont load so I dashboard and played greenhill zone act 1 thank you Sonic Cyanide :)

Does this also require the 30 second trails, bc I've done all the ranking attacks, but I'm still not getting the achievement.

You shouldn't have to get the "A 30-Second Test" achievement or do anything in the other modes.
Did you do the levels out of order in Time Trial mode? If you did, quit to dashboard, load everything back up, and try running through Green Hill Zone Act 1 quickly and see if that does it.
The only other thing I can think of is to make sure you uploaded a time for all 18 stages.

I gess i'm a bit late to tell that but, i've completed all the ranked attack levels in both acts, and the achievement is not unlocking.
I tried doing going back to the main menu and beating green hill act 1 and 2 again, but it didin't unlocked.
EDIT: i did it really out of order, probably this happened because of this

How do you mean in order?
Are you supposed to do first all act 1, and then start with Act 2?

Or can you do Green hill act 1 and 2, then chemical plant act 1 and 2 and so on?

I've tried playing back through green hill both act 1 and 2, and the achievement wont pop, I've checked and there is a time for all of the courses, idk what is happening does anyone know the fix?

@Estocolmo...I had the same ? too, but decided to go with all of Act 1 first, then Act 2, playing all the levels in the order they were listed. It wound up popping as it should, at the end of Planet Wisp (modern Sonic), after my rank uploaded.

Ranking attack no longer works on Xbox. When you enter it says “Disconnected from Xbox Live. Returning to Title Screen.”

Anyone know how to get around this issue?

Looks like a lot of x360 games leaderboards and servers affected rn. There is no fix unfortunatelly, all we can do is waiting for the fix from microsoft.

I'm getting the same issue people had earlier getting a disconnected from xbox live error when trying to enter the time trials... such a shame thought I was gonna be able to 100% it (on a series x)

Servers are working perfectly today (10/14/23). I managed to finish all levels in time attack with no crashes and got the achievement. This was done on a series X.

Boss fights do not have to be done. Just the nine levels in Act 1 and the nine level in Act 2. Just make sure you're in Ranking Attack mode.

The S Ranks weren't too hard. You'll eventually unlock techniques that will help you, like different shield types for classic Sonic.

For this trophy you must be connected to PSN. Ranking Attacks are basically the same exact stages that you played in the story mode, you cannot select them until you have already completed them in story mode. Complete them again here in this mode for both Classic Sonic and Modern Sonic and your trophy should unlock.

Time, rank, etc. are not important here. You just need to complete both acts at all levels.

If suddenly the trophy doesn’t fall out like it did for me, just replay the first level of the first act.
