Here are the videos I found for all 7 chaos emeralds in the Mushroom Hill zone with Sonic. Just abuse the save feature and it's fairly straight forward.

Gettin' Super - 25G (Original Achievement)

To get this Achievement you must obtain all 7 Chaos Emeralds.

You can do this as either Sonic or Knuckles, so it's up to you on who to play as.

To start things off, Chaos Emeralds are located in places known as Special Stages. Special Stages are located inside of Giant Rings, which are usually hidden behind fake walls throughout the many Zones. Once you manage to find one (below will be a bunch of videos in my walkthrough showing various rings you can use) make sure you save your game using the feature in the pause menu (this way you can retry if you fail), then jump into the Giant Ring to begin.

Once inside you will be in a sort of 3D world with a "Blue Sphere" Counter at the top of your screen (Ignore the ring counter). The goal of the Special Stage, is to collect every Blue Sphere, once you do you will be rewarded with a Chaos Emerald. There are a few issues though. First and foremost, once you start moving, you cannot stop until you win or fail. As time goes by the stage will pick up speed and the music will speed up to match it, so make sure to keep your cool or you'll mess up. Once you touch a Blue Sphere, it will turn into a Red Sphere. These Red Spheres will cause you to instantly fail the Special Stage if you touch one so be cautious! Other Spheres you may encounter are Yellow Spheres which will bounce you forward a set distance (these can bounce you into a group of Red Spheres so be careful!), and White Bumper Spheres which will bounce you backward off them.

Lastly, you will find Blue Spheres in grids of 4x4 or 5x5 etc. You can actually collect all of the Outside Blue Spheres and it will turn all of the remaining spheres (including the ones you just touched) into Rings, collecting the mass all at once. If this confuses you, just watch the videos below and you'll understand. Do NOT try to grid a group of 4 Spheres (2x2) it won't work!

You have infinite time to work with, and each Chaos Emerald has it's own unique Special Stage.

The Special Stages are the exact same as Sonic The Hedgehog 3. However since this game is set straight after the events from Sonic The Hedgehog 3, the difficulty of these Special Stages is slightly harder. The newest features included is the Yellow Ball which is a Spring. The spring makes you bounce from one end of the arena to the other. But it may put you out of control for a brief moment so be careful.

Throughout all the levels you play, there are secret areas which contain Giant Rings which spin round in circles. Find a ring and jump inside it to begin a Chaos Emerald Mini-Game.

You will then be placed in a 3D View, and your goal will be to run around the arena and grab the Blue Spheres, whilst avoiding the red ones. Touching the red ones will eliminate you and will return you to the level you are playing in.
Each time you touch a Blue Sphere, it will turn from blue to red. Successfully grab all of the blue spheres, and you will win a Chaos Emerald.

You can earn rings in a special stage zone by finding a collection spheres of more than 4 and then running around the outer blue spheres, blocking the inside ones making a red sphere square.
Once you've turned the last sphere in the square to red, all the spheres in that particular location will turn into rings, which will give you extra points. The rings obtained in a special stage zone will not transfer to the level you are playing in. They will be used as points.

Additionally if you successfully grab all the rings in a Special Stage Zone that are available, you will be awarded "Perfect" which will give you 50,000 Points, which is an extra life in the main game.

Note: Be careful if your trying to turn the spheres into rings. If you go too far inside the square, or go off-course you may lead yourself to an area full of red spheres, and a trap.

Note: You can jump in a Special Stage as well by pressing the Jump Button. You will need to use this move when you do the harder challenges.

Note: The longer you last in the arena, and the more spheres you grab, the faster the music and the arena goes, so you need to watch yourself when the speed increases.

Note: As well as successfully earning the achievement. Collecting all 7 Chaos Emeralds will allow you to become Super Sonic & Super Knuckles!

Once you have grabbed all 7 Chaos Emeralds, you will get this achievement.
