How to unlock the Collect 'Em All achievement in Sonic Mania - Definitive Guide
Note: When I did this, I made it way harder than I needed to because I thought you had to do it without taking damage, you can lol.
1. Make sure you've gathered enough Gold/Silver Medallions to unlock Debug Mode.
2. Go into Mania Mode, hover over "No Save" on the right, press and switch Debug Mode on and hit OK.
4. Hover over "No Save" again, make sure Tails Alone is the character on screen, and hold and until the Level Select screen comes up, click on Metal Madness Zone Act 2.
5. Press to enter Debug Mode then press until you become a Ring Box. Press until you become an Extra Life Box and then rapidly press to set them on the ground. Break them all open to get a bunch of extra lives.
6. Go back into Debug Mode with . Then fly all the way across the stage and activate the last checkpoint before the end.
7. Enter the Boss Fight and let them kill you. (The game will think you are no longer playing Debug Mode do to you dying. Just make sure you never enter Debug Mode again or the game will null the Achievement until you die again. If you need more lives or you accidentally enter Debug Mode, just die again.
8. Re-enter the fight (never using Debug Mode) and hit the lever to drop minions DO NOT HARM THEM. Start flying through the lever to drop more minions, and land every now and then in an open space to let Tails catch his breath. Continue until all eight minions have been dropped and Eggman leaves the screen.
9. Go nuts and destroy all enemies. If you get hit, make grabbing a ring your top priority then go back to the carnage. The Achievement unlocks upon Eggman's destruction.
I'm going to suggest you do this on a save file Without tails as P2.
The reason for this is tails will damage the bots, destroying them. Additionally, amy-bots will latch onto him and self destruct, removing them from the fight. You want as many alive at once as possible in order to get the achievement.
It is possible with 2P, just harder.
Keep jumping over the enemies and generally avoiding them, you can only spawn them in a a certain rate.
Once you have 8 on screen at once, feel free to mess up the small army and defeat the boss. Achievement will pop once Eggman goes down.
Edit: If you absolutely want to do it with two players it might be better to have a physical person controlling P2. Tails can walk into the enemies without fear of dying, and just jump to avoid the amy-bots. I don't know if the "shrunk" tails can fly, but if it can it would be an effective way to keep away from the enemies.
I tried to do it using Super Sonic since I had him on at the time but the achievement didn't unlock when I defeated Eggman.
This trophy is earned during the boss fight on Metallic Madness Zone Act 2, and must be done on Mania Mode.
One of the hardest trophies in the game!
The boss fight is Eggman controlling a big Gachapon machine (It’s a kind of Japanese toy dispenser, hence the trophy description).
To beat the boss you will hit his dispenser knob to let a mini-boss enemy out. He has 8 mini-boss enemies that can be unleashed, and once all are dead you attack the knob once more to win the fight.
There are 3 types of enemies:
- Amy Doll – These latch on you and explode. Shake them off by pressing left/right repeatedly. Dies in 1 hit.
- Drill Eggman – Just drives along the ground at a steady pace, then goes back the other way. Dies in 3 hits.
- Flying Eggman – These enemies fly overhead and drop fire every so often, while swooping down as well. Annoying to dodge, dies in 3 hits.
To earn this trophy however, you need to have all 8 enemies on screen at once without killing any (damaging them is ok though)! It is quite difficult to do and you will waste a lot of lives doing this, there is no guaranteed way to get the trophy.
It is a bit luck based in terms of which enemies spawn.
I find the easiest to dodge are the Drill enemies. The Amy ones can cause a lot of frustration as well, so it does take a bit of luck to get the right combination that helps you succeed!
I did the trophy with Sonic on my first run, then again with Super Sonic as seen in this video:
This can be attained on the second act of Metallic Madness Zone. But before starting, whilst in the Mania Mode screen press Y to bring up the Game Options and enable Debug Mode.
To access the Level Select Screen, highlight the 'NO SAVE' option (with Tails selected as your character) and hold X followed by holding Start.
When the Zone loads up, transform into a Ring by pressing X and follow the route shown in the video to the end of the level (before the Boss encounter). Press A to scroll through the items available until you reach the Starpost. Place it on the level by pressing Y and scroll through again with A until you find the Large Ring and place a few down as well as a monitor for a flame shield (press B to scroll through monitor options). Turn back into Sonic by pressing X and collect the Rings/Flame Shield and enter the Special Stage via the Starpost. Complete the Special Stage (by hitting a Red Sphere) and return to the level.
To unlock the achievement you must have all 8 mini-robos on the field of play at the same time. This is best done using Tails as he can fly without landing for a while, hitting the switch on Dr Robotnik's machine every now and again.
When the 8th mini-robo is out Dr Robotnik will fly away and you will have to defeat what remains. The Robotnik clones can be beaten with 3 hits and the Amy clones with 1. By having the flame shield you will be immune from any fireballs cast by the flying Robotnik clones.
Act: 2
Character: any, easiest with Tails
During the boss fight, you need to release all the balls containing the enemies before killing them. That is, you need to turn the lever on D. Robotnik until he disappears, only then kill all the enemies that “hatched” from these balls.

But you can turn on the second controller, hold the sticks in the direction of some corner of the boss level so as not to get in the way, and try to knock out the trophy.
Otherwise, you will have to start a new campaign for Tails.
