Very straightforward. Cycle through the games on the main menu until you get to Mission Mode. You can pick any of the one star missions from any of the 4 games and you will likely have no trouble as the times are generally lenient.
The easiest or least strenuous mission I came across was “Time Travel 101” from Sonic CD. In this mission, all you have to do is travel to the past or future twice in 40 seconds. To do this in Sonic CD you have to run through one of the “Past” or “Future” signs in a level and then build up enough speed so that glowing light begins to trail behind you. When maintaining this speed for long enough, a small cutscene will play and you’ll be transported to either the past or the future.
In this mission, the first sign is located on a platform immediately after starting so jump through that and carry on straight. You should have no problem maintaining enough speed to get 1 out of the 2 time jumps required.
For the 2nd time jump, you can do it in a few different ways. What I did was jump onto the moving gold platform, then to the stationary platform, then the spring. You will run through a sign and then I carried on straight into two consecutive springs which gave me enough momentum to time jump.
It really is up to you how you do it but I found this mission very easy to S rank as there are no enemies and a generous time limit.
