How to unlock the Endure 1,000 achievement in Soulcalibur IV - Definitive Guide
The easiest way to get this one is to actually work on a different achievement. Work on the "Like A Flowing Stream" achievement for getting 200 impacts first.
What you need to do is customize Raphael with the Auto Impact A and Impact Heal abilities. Go into story mode and hold down the A button and LS> continuously to block. I found you can get 4-5 impacts against the first character of the round. Just keep blocking until he kills you and then restart the match and repeat.
You get the 200 impacts and you'll easily get the 1,000 blocks along the way. You'll know you got an impact when the word "Impact" flashes at the top left under your health bar.

Like the other guys said, go for this 2 achievements:
And if you need some grind after that my suggestion is Floor 53 (the first enemy) in the Ascending Tower of Souls. Almost all the attacks are blockable and the enemy attacks are fast. Just hold the A button (block), nothing more, nothing less.

So I was trying for this and then I noticed something. All my armor was broken. So I went into offensive mode and got "Phoenix". Didn't even have to win the round just had to K.O. one of the enemies.

This is easily done with Yoda. The AI opponents don't throw him because he's too short (a property of Yoda) and the low attacks do little damage. Just stand there and guard in a tower level with an active AI opponent and long timer. Add Auto Impact A skill to get your 200 impact achievements at the same time. Die or let the timer run out, rinse-repeat. You don't even need to be watching the screen, just hold block.
But obviously do this achievement last because you are going to be using guard a lot during your normal play throughs to other achievements.

It's best not to actually go straight for this achievement, as it will become extremely tedious. Building upon what SkillfulMmd has said, A is to block, and blocks in all game modes, even online blocks, count towards this.
I got it after 7 and a half hours of gameplay, so if you are just playing through at your own pace, expect this to come after about 6-8 hours.

If you don't have this after all the other achievements for lack of blocking, simply play through story mode or the Tower of Lost Souls and just hold down .
Me and a friend got this online while going for critical finishes/ soul crushes and leveling up. You have to block so your soul meter goes down. Just hold block (A).
I also got my 200 Guard Impacts and 1000 guards at the same time with the Auto Impact A skill, but I chose Floor 57 with the incredibly annoying girls who do nothing but spam fast combos. Started the stage, held G until they killed me, then repeated. Got both achievements in less than an hour with only 20 guard impacts and barely 100 or so guards to start with (from when I worked on my Just Impact achievement).
