How to unlock the Like a Flowing Stream achievement in Soulcalibur IV - Definitive Guide

Customize Mitsurugi to have Auto Impact A and Impact Heal. Go into his Story Mode. The first opponent, Setsuka, tends to use mostly high and medium attacks, so just stand there and guard the whole time.

Not sure if it matters, but I noticed that I got more Impacts when my soul gauge was green, so if you want, put Recovery A on and hit Setsuka, or the others and it'll refill.

Ok I KNOW i've performed at least 59,364 impacts under my gamer tag. Can some of these achievements only be achieved in certain game modes? Does it have to be story?

You probably ran into the same problem I did when trying to get this and other grind achievements: You have to do something that saves the game in order to keep your progress before you turn off the game. Even if it's going into the character creator and making a small tweak to someone.

Best place is floor 11 in tower of souls saves right after u die or win. Instead of just holding a u get more a match by actually timing ur opponents move and pressing toward and a just as they start to swing. Just holding I would be lucky to get 2 a round. But when actually doing it normal got like 25 a round. Works good to get ur just impacts as well.

i done the mitsurugi set up and found that just standing there was just giving me a few impacts,so i mixed it up with light attacks then went into guard stance making the ai to react. having made contact with my block i then repeated, impacts came alot more regular.

I found a method to get this one in no time. The best I've gotten was 61 impacts/match, but even more is possible.

I used a custom Mitsurugi with impact heal, high def and high GP (health) and low attack (you don't need impact heal but it helps). Go to TOLS stage 11. The first enemy is Ayala (or Araya?).
Now you do the following: Just keep hitting her with the X-attack. If she blocks (and she'll block a lot), she'll try to hit you right after your attack. So after being blocked hit 6G (forward+guard) and you should get an impact. If she ducks, you'll miss your hit, but she'll most likely do a WR attack afterwards, that means another easy-to-see impact for you.

This worked great for me, I needed 92 impacts and I got them in two matches. Often I got 4 or more impacts in a row. If you defeat the first opponent in stage 11 TOLS, the next one is a Cervantes style char, but it is the same here. Let him block your X-attack, and 6G right after being blocked.

Shouldn't take longer than 30min to get the achievement.

This is better than the top guide for sure. I did something very similar to this yesterday. Its worth putting Auto Impact A on your Mitsurugi if you can that way you can miss the timing and still get it fairly regularly. Also, I think your soul gauge being low reduces the chances of an impact.

thx for the comment ;) I think this solution is much easier and faster than the solutions above, but people don't seem to use my solution or at least don't seem to rate it -.-
I did it this way and just wanted to share it. thx for the add-ons about Auto Impact A and low soul gauge!

There's a really simple way to boost this with a friend. Go ahead and set up an Online Special Versus Player Match. Whoever wishes to knock out the Impacts first should select Ivy, since her default character already has Auto Impact A, while the other player selects the customized Yun-Seong I recommend in my "Mad Destroyer" and "Death on the Battlefield" solutions. If you're too lazy to look at those solutions, create this Yun-Seong (credit goes out to Fatboyy for a nearly identical Yun-Seong, minus the Sorghum and some skills):

Weapon: Sorghum
Head: Horns of Calamity
Face: Usurper's Mask
Neck: Juok Chaplet
Shoulder: Paladin's Pauldrons
Undergarments: Executioner's Fauld
Upper Body: Noble Garment
Arm: Vagrant's Kote
Lower Body: Samurai's Hakama
Ankle: Shinobi Tabi
Leg: Hero's Shoes
Skill 1: Soul Gauge Damage A (recommended)
Skill 2: Start Dash B (personal)
Skill 3: Nullify Ring Out C (personal)
Skill 4: N/A

With this Yun-Seong, the player that is not using Ivy for Impacts can work on Soul Crushes and Critical Finishes at the same time.

The match settings don't particularly matter; with 1 round, you can quickly work towards getting "Engraved into History", whereas with multiple rounds, you can get more Impacts, Soul Crushes, and Critical Finishes with less loading time. I recommend the level Phantom Pavilion due to having four walls, preventing ring outs.

Simply guard with Ivy while Yun-Seong attacks high with his X+X combo. You should get anywhere from 5 to 15 Impacts per round, depending on how lucky you are.

Impact's while in Special Versus don't count towards your impact total. Check your battle records before and after a fight.

Except for the fact that I and another user unlocked it in Special Versus.

Check your battle records before and after a fight.

I was doing it locally. I can only assume that you did it online using X-Box Live. You may want to add that to your solution as it does not work locally. :)

I assumed mentioning "Engraved Into History" would be the big tipper, but I digress. It has been added.

@ClipsMcGee I have to tell you can't get any achievements locally, they either have to be against computers or against someone else.

It's cool, I've changed my vote now :) I'd got engraved in history ages ago and only just started playing the game recently. Or else I probably would have known online was needed. Still a little specifity for idiots like me can't hurt :)

@ClipsMcGee Well at least you left a comment to tell your reason on how to change it, unlike many other people.

Yeah, no joke. I have a solution up for Blitz the League II that has a negative without any explanation.

  • Create a character with high defense and high hp.
  • Give him/her Auto Impact A and Impact Heal
  • Just hold block and let the enemy attack you
  • Play one of the harder floors in TOLS acsension. Play the one with Cassandra because she attacks very often and very quickly.

An easy way to get this online is to get a friend to play as Yoda and you play as Kilik. Get your friend to do light attacks with Yoda () and then you press (->) + (). Yoda is the easiest character to do impacts against as he has to jump to do light attack, so it is easy to anticipate. So when you see Yoda jump do the Impact.
