Accessories means anything appearing next to the ring icon (last in the equipment list).
The only characters that can use accessories are Yoda, The Apprentice, Algol, and the Bonus Characters (appearing under the star icon in the character select screen). Darth Vader is not needed.
As more achievements are unlocked in the game, more equipment (including accessories) become available. All accessories are not available for purchase until 30 other achievements have been earned.
Edit: It is possible to use accessories with all the other characters if you use their default (1P or 2P) appearance when customising. There just isn't much point. (thx Ianus Ventus)
Edit 2 (Skelebone XVI): "I was able to access and purchase all accessories after getting 25 achievements, Looter of the Battlefield was my 26th. I received a pop-up of "New Equipment is Available to Purchase" after getting my 25th."

I think you mean Yoda as Darth Vader is PS3 ;)

Darth Vader is avail for purchase & download. He is not necessary to purchase him and get his accessories.

This one is easy just keep playing as the special characters and lord vader,apprentice, yoda on story mode and buy them all its not that much... i think after 10 rounds of story on normal i could buy everything

I found you don't need Vader to pop this one. I just bought all the accessories under The Apprentice and it popped. They must be the same for Yoda and The Apprentice I guess.

Same here. I bought all the accessories under the apprentice and it unlocked for me.

You DO NOT have to complete 40 floors of TOSL descend mode to unlock all accessories. When you unlock 30 achievements in the game, you unlock more equipment/accessories to be bought. Accessories belong to "Special equipment" which only a few characters like Yoda, The Apprentice, Bonus Characters and Algol can access.

This achievement popped for me after I bought the last defense crystal for yoda. In the create character screen, select a new slot for yoda, then go to his items and at the very bottom you will see the defense crystal. I'm sorry, i'm not sure exactly how much is required, but I know I went in with only about 110,000 in money.
