How to unlock the Transcend History and the World achievement in Soulcalibur IV - Definitive Guide

You will need to get around 3,000,000 gold in order to buy every weapon and piece of equipment.

You will get gold from beating arcade and story mode, winning ranked matches, and completing levels for Tower of Lost Souls. To save money, you can unlock items by completing certain tasks in the TOLS levels.
In order to buy all pieces of equipment, you have to unlock a certain number of achievements (I believe 25 or 30). Accessories (items for the guest characters, Algol, and Star Wars characters) might count towards this achievement, but I can't confirm that. A special note: Voldo has a piece of equipment that can only be bought when editting him or a character modeled after him. You have to buy all equipment for both genders as well.

In order to be able to buy every weapon for each character, you must beat the game with each character in story mode. Pretty much, beat story mode 32 times (one time for each character).

There's an exploit to gain some fast gold. On level 60 of TOLS, simply walk back towards the ledge and let Algo knock you down. When de you're down on the ground, don't touch the controller. If your character is angled correctly, Algol will ring himself out and you'll have 12500 more gold. Repeat as many times as necessary.
To make things easier, organize how you'll buy things. Set out to buy all male equipment at once (on Voldo), then all female equipment, then buy all weapons for each character one at a time (So, buy all the weapons for Siegfried, then all the weapons for Nightmare...etc etc).

EDIT: Since Izibaar requested, it should be noted that going through the story mode with every character and completing arcade mode a few times will net you around 1,000,000 gold. So you can get a decent amount of gold in your bank (as well as all of the weapons unlocked) before you go about doing the TOLS exploit.

You could mention that you have about 1,000,000 gold after playing every charackter in story mode and beating the tower. So as a single player you have to get 1,500,000 gold without any content.

I realy don't know what am I doing wrong here...

I am pretty sure that I have already bought all the equipment and weapons available (have been trough ALL characters twice), including Voldo's mask, but I cannot seem to be getting the achievement. It's the last one, and I cannot seem to get it.

Anyone has any idea? Thanks!

I'm a dumbass never mind. I must have flipped too them too fast. Just went though each character slowly and found the last weapon i needed to purchase.

Took longer to find the missing weapon than grind the gold lol

Nice to know that you don't have to unlock every side quest in the Tower to get things to show up in the buying menu. That'll save me a ton of frustration as some of those side quests are stupid as hell.

Make sure you don't hit the guy as if you inflict any damage on him the ringout trick won't work, he'll hit an invisible barrier preventing him from falling out every time.

The Algol trick still works as of today with any character. As Rhyolitic said, just make sure you don't hit him with any attack otherwise it won't work.

I'm going to second what Shin Gatsurai said and seriously suggest that you put that info in your guide - If you attack Algol even once successfully he will never ring himself out. It seems like his Nullify Ring Out skill doesn't activate until you actually successfully attack him whether it's a throw or strike. I tried simply using the Apprentice to chuck him out and it didn't work but the ring out trick ALWAYS works so long as you don't attack him.

@ The June Box - Make sure that you purchase Voldo's mask. That item only shows up for him iirc. I had thought it was glitched and I went through all characters looking for something I might have missed. It was one 1350pt piece on him. Failing that, I'd go through and purchase all the extra weapons for the 5 unlockable characters - Angol Fear, Kamisomethingorother, Shura, Scherazade, and that other one.

I needed just under 3 mil, it depends on what you get on the tower of souls. Great guide, that Algol ring out is by far the efficient way to gain money.

One quick question: do you need to get ALL the treasures from TOLS to get this achievement or those treasure just save you gold and the weapons/equipment are already there?

So I have an issue, not with the solution but my own issue that im not sure of and wondering if anyone knows or has an idea of my issue. Long story short, got 41/50 achievements on a hard drive I do not have anymore. Will the game reconize that I have 41 achievements? Or do I need to literally do everything over again to unlock what needs to be unlocked in order to buy everything? Follow me? I hope so lol. Anyone know?

Answered my own question. No it will not recognize if you already have any achievements. You'll have to "earn" them again in order to unlock everything. A bit late but it seems I'm the only one that's had that issue.

Aside from the Algol method, there's another pretty easy and lucrative way to grind for money to buy everything. This method involves using a turbo controller and playing through Story mode on hard difficulty as Astaroth. You should use a stronger created character version of him and the one you used from Tower of Souls should work just fine here.

Then, go into the control settings and assign A+B to the cn_A-button. Start up Story, select your Astaroth edit, and Turbo down the cn_A button. For me on average, after 7 or so minutes all 5 stages of Story would be cleared and most of the time, I was getting 24,000 gold for each run (S Rank). However, you will have to hit start to advance every time once you reach the end of Story mode at the results screen. From there, select Story again, Hard, Astaroth, then set the turbo up again from there.

It's not as fast as grinding Floor 60, but It's not a bad method if you want to work on other things or if you get tired of the Algol ring out trick. You can also do this manually if you don't have a turbo of course.

If you want to grind money while at work or asleep, simply highlight Arcade mode and turbo down the cn_A button with the same settings given above. The game will repeatedly play through Arcade as Siegfried earning you 10,000 gold each time.

but it should be noted if you buy the items before you unlock them in the TOLS, if you accomplish the parameters to get the item in that level of TOLS, you will get gold. I don't think you will get the amount the item actually sells for, but you do get something. I have unlocked over 30 items, but there is still so much left to purchase. Weapons do get expensive.

Just as a suggestion, when performing the exploit with Algol, it is easiest to use Xianghua and use the down+away A+B move that makes her lie down without taking any damage. This way, Algol has more opportunity to kick you around without you dying before he inevitably rings himself out.

I bought all DLC and unlocked about 30% of all TOLS treasures, and it unlocked for me at 2130000 .. so watch out you don't grind to much and waste your time like I did :(

Agol still works yes.
I am another one of the people who is slamming my head into the wall trying to figure out what i missed though.(It is not Voldo or guest accessories)
Beat story with every character some twice on hard and/or normal to get a higher rating hoping this would unlock something i was missing.
Been through the weapons and accessories for every character at least 2 times. Some more nothing is showing that it needs to be purchased.

Going to try and find an item list to cross check what i have with what i am missing. Any advice is greatly appreciated

To add to the original solutions for this achievement I want to clear up and cover a few things that were not made clear.
Make sure you not only complete Story mode w/ all of the characters, but also on the create a character you need to go all the way to the top right of the selection screen and click up the “star” for the remaining generic 5 characters and beat story mode w/ each one of them. Then purchase each of their remaining weapons.
Which leads me to this- if you are unsure who you beat story with, and in order to prevent you from beating it w/ the same characters for no reason go to create a character, then look at each of their weapons listing. Each character should have exactly 8 weapons, no more, no less.
If they have less than 8 then you have not completed the story mode with them.
To make sure you bought every weapon and equipment I just started from top to bottom. Everyone will have their own method; however I found it easier to start from top to bottom for each line of characters.
As someone mentioned about how much money you will need to purchase all the items, it does not take nowhere near 3million dollars. I say just over 2.1 or 2.2mill if that.
Best way to boost as already suggested for money is to go to Level 60 on TOLS and let Algo knock you down close to the edge. Just position yourself to the edge and watch this fool combo himself right out of the ring with a jump flip. Very funny, and never gets old to watch, …. well, maybe after viewing number 45. Good for 12,500 everytime in cash.

To get this achievement it is going to cost you countless hours but continue to rinse and repeat and you will have it before you know it. ;)
P.S. this is my 1st ever Achievement Guide on truachievement.com. Great site. Extremely helpful for achievements w/ suggestions and youtube videos.

There is an easier way to see who you have beaten story mode with.

Go to the museum and go to where you can view cut scenes. You will only be able to view the ending cut scenes for characters you have finished story mode with.

Indeed wolf. Its quite simple actually. You have 40+ chars and need an easy 50k per char allrdy beeing 2 mil. And then u have all the armor and such on male and female to buy. So yea it will easily take 3 mil

By Cheps on 29 Apr 2011 16:34
I was actually hoping that it would be only 2.2 mil. But when I had 13 characters left to purchase all their weapons I had about 2.2 mil. And one weapon set per character takes max. 70k -> 13x70000 = 910k so 3 million is totally right. Maybe you should change that in solution. And agree with Chronos Star. The rest is alright, if you change it I will change my vote to positive.

Just to confirm, It took just under 2,207700 in gold for me to get this. Plus I still have soe left over. Over 64 hours of play time, and a bad glitch with Looter of The Battlefield not showing on my gamertag, but showing in the game I finally got it.

I just want to say that despite the patch on Algol not ringing himself out it is easy to simply clear your cache / delete the updates and do that same method offline to get gold and then save and pop back online to pop the achievement online so you can have the timestamp if that's a big deal to you or just unlock it offline too. Hybrid sums up this level 60 "exploit" pretty well refer to his guide. I'll sum it up quick though, let him knock you down near the ledge, stay down and let him throw himself off the stage. For a detailed guide simply refer to Hybrids guide.

EDIT: Apparently the patch didn't 100% fix Algol jumping out of the ring, IXCrucifixionXI confirmed you can still get him to jump out. This may or not be due to the fact he was using a smaller character like yoda I'm not 100% sure I'll have to get up to that point once again and try it out.

Also forgot to mention some items people may forget...
1.) Make sure you complete all story modes as that unlocks two weapons for each character that are required.

2.) Voldo has a mask you can only buy while customizing him so make sure you purchase this.

3.) The treasures do count that you equip on to default characters, so make sure you get them for that 20 G achievement before going for this.

If you have any other tips you would like to see feel free to comment and tell me how to improve!

I'd be cautious on that though. I've heard that clearing your cache may delete your multiplayer data (level, achievement progress, etc.) from some games... Gears of War in particular that I know of.

ive just beaten level 60 of the tower, and have had algol ringing himself out for quite a few matches now. Just pick yoda let him knock you to the ground by the edge and eventually he will jump over u and out. And I still have the update and am online.

Like I said in the guide there are only a few things I can suggest...

Did you make sure to count them out? If you just look, you won't see the joke weapons even on the roster. The voldo mask gets some people...your comment ruled out the possibility of never getting the female gear.

The armors are tied to the achievements, so weapon style doesn't have anything to do with it. There's not much I can offer without being there to see myself, sadly. If you have a fresh pair of eyes look your list over it could help perhaps?

FWIW Algol ringed out over me when I was playing as Astaroth. Not sure I'd recommend it for grinding but wasn't even that hard to trigger.

Edit post-achievement: No need to clear the title update, the ring out works ~97% of the time. Customize a Yoda character with Nullify Ring Out A, make three copies, and just move to the edge of the platform and let Algol go nuts. Did about 100 matches, maybe failed 3-4 times.

You need to unlock all characters and complete story mode with all of them once to buy two extra weapons.

  • You need to buy all equipment for males and females.
  • 8 weapons for all 34 characters
  • Buy all special accessories
  • Check Voldo if you can't get the achievement, there is an item called "Imprisoned Mask" that only Voldo can buy

This achievement is the one you'll want to leave for last. This is because there are two ways of obtaining certain equipment.

The first is to unlock them by finding them in the Tower of Lost Souls, and the second is by obtaining a certain number of achievements or 'honours'.

You should have unlocked all equipment after obtaining 30 honours. So for example, you won't need to get to floor B40 to get the Voodoo Crown; you'll have it already. I found doing the other achievements to unlock the equipment, to be easier than trying to get all of the treasures in TOLS.

For the weapons, play through the story with every character, including the special ones, this should unlock all of their respective weapons.

Play through arcade mode or TOLS to get more gold should you need it.

In the event you do not get the achievement, check each character's weapons again to ensure you have purchased all of them. This was what fixed it for me.
