How to unlock the Assault and Battery achievement in SOULCALIBUR VI - Definitive Guide
For this method you will need 2 controllers.
Go into Battle, then select Versus. Change the settings to player vs player, 5 rounds, and infinite time. This will give you plenty of tries with minimal loading.
Select Astaroth with your profile. the other character doesn't matter.
Once the round starts, hit with your controller, then mash on both controllers. The first clash will end in a draw, but the second clash will result in the "Rending Torment" move.
Repeat 3 times and the achievement will unlock.
Edit: Reverend M3TA suggests not quitting out due to the glitchy "Get All Achievements" Achievement. So instead of quitting out, complete the match.

worked like a charm, thank you!

Recommend you do NOT quit out after it pops, as this may keep the game's internal list from ticking off and thus your "get all achievements" achievement may glitch. Finish the match, let it auto save.

No need for two controllers.
Load up Soul Chronicles and select Asteroth's first chapter. You fight two lizardmen for one round each.
Get close to the opponent and hit RB, there will be a flash of red, both fighters will rush at each other, don't press anything and they will clash, but not take damage. Then they will rush at each other a second time, mash Y, Asteroth will do an overhead swing. If it connects, then that's Rending Torment. You need to get it to connect three times.
Sometimes they will dodge, but I did it about 10 times over those two rounds and it connected three of those times.
Make sure you finish the chapter and it autosaves.

Select 'Battle' then 'Versus' with the following settings:
Player: Player vs CPU
Round Count: 5
Battle Time: Infinite
CPU Difficulty: Easy
Battle Mode: Standard
Pause Menu: Standard
Select Astaroth as your character and anybody as the opponent. In the match perform Reversal Edges (Press Y+A) which will cause the game to go into a slow motion effect. During the first clash do not press any attack button but during the second clash press Y and if it lands it will be the 'Rending Torment' move. You will know if you are successful when 'Lethal Hit' and/or 'Break Attack' appears under your characters name.
This can also be done against a second controller but on Easy this is still very simple to complete.
This trophy is easy if you have a 2nd controller, or it will come naturally if you play Astaroth as your main character.
But still, to obtain it you have to play as Astaroth and use Reversal Edge (hold ): the first impact with the opponent must be with the same attack (i.e. both character's attack is horizontal ) so the characters will clash and you get a second chance, then you have to use the vertical attack ().
This also works if the opponent starts the Reversal Edge.
Please note that if you win the first stage of a Reversal Edge using immediately the vertical attack as you first hit, it doesn't count because it won't be a lethal hit.
It will be a lethal hit only if your first clash with your opponent and then win the second attack using a vertical attack .

In two-player mode, press B+G on Astaroth.
In the first skirmish, both players hit, A, B or K, at the same time.
In the second, Astaroth hits B, and the enemy hits A.

Easily done without a second joystick.
Let's set up a duel, normal difficulty, any opponent.
We beat the opponent , initiating a Clash. In the first skirmish we don’t press anything. In the second click .

I didn’t succeed for quite a long time until, using scientific poking, I figured out what and how. So here are a few clarifications and clarifications to the hint above:
1. You need a second joystick, and in the Battle>>Duel menu set “Player versus player”.
2. You can do everything alone, control Player 1 with your left hand, Player 2 with your right hand
3. For Player 1, choose Astaroth, for Player 2 - any other character, so as not to get confused.
4. “Reverse thrust” is activated on Astaroth by pressing not B+K, but B+G. For convenience, in the control settings you can assign the B+G combination to any shift. I have it hanging on , so I press on Astaroth (sometimes you need to get closer to the enemy), and the Backdraft began.
5. Next, in the first attack, you need to hold down (rather than press) any of the three buttons A, B or K on both joysticks. The main thing is that the buttons must be the same! on both joys. Since Astaroth's second blow should be "B", I pressed in the first attack for both " "If everything is clamped correctly, then both fighters will catch fire and hit each other in a draw."
Note: if on the first attack you hold down “B” with Astaroth and “A” with the enemy, then Astaroth will throw him away, but such a technique will not be counted, it’s been checked!
6. Second attack - on Asti we press (precisely press) “B” ( ) with your left hand. On the opponent with your right hand, hold down “A” ( ). If everything is done correctly and clamped at the right time, Asti will throw the enemy very far to the edge of the arena.
