How to unlock the Warrior's Respite achievement in SOULCALIBUR VI - Definitive Guide
This isn't so much a guide as it's more helpful information while doing this. You may want to consider using a character with Groh's fighting style. It's fast and tears through enemies. When doing a 2nd play through with a new character you still have access to any weapons and items you unlocked on your first play through but not the gold. It will take a few hours to burn through just the primary stories (marked in red). Also if you want to skip through the dialog you can hit start and select skip which is a lot faster than just hitting x over and over. While skipping it will stop at any decisions to make and then after making your choice you can skip again.
During my first play through I did all the good choices and on the second I did all evil

FYI, my first playthrough took my about 18 hours, but I unlocked all Libra of Soul achievements (except the other ending, of course). This would be all side quests to upgrade the cities, 30 "Astral Fissure Sealing" missions, buying/upgrading weapons, travelling, defeating an ancient.... Most likely, I completed some side quests, which are not required for achievements, so you could beat it faster, but 10 hours should be spent as a minimum considering that the 30 seals already take maybe 4 hours and you also may want to read the fancy story...
In my second playthrough. I skipped all the dialogue (but skipped no cutscenes) and only did the red missions. This took me 2:23 hours. I selected the same colour throughout the story and did not do any extra missions for additional choices. The story decisions are sufficient to "tip your scale".
Keep in mind that there will be one final "book" mission after the credits, which will unlock this achievement.

Do you have to start a new game file for weapons to carry over or is it a new game +?

This is meant for both runs but I can't help with some of the confusion. I'll explain later, for the good run in the decision is mostly golden sword you'll choose. But for the bad run, just choose the azure sword instead. You will have to do this process a couple times. The final opponent in both runs is Groh with infinite soul charge.
One key thing I noticed to see if you are going for either ending is the color of your aura. If your aura is bright whitish blue, you are mostly on the good run path. But if your aura is a purplish red instead, you're going towards an evil run path. There's five chapters you need to play through. Earlier I said I can't help much with the confusion.
The best way to describe it is sometimes the story. Which uses an open book icon doesn't always appear. Sometimes, it's on another location. Sometimes, it is one of many objectives you can do it for that area. Usually, later on if this happens that story icon isn't going to be the first thing to pop up there. Luckily, you can use an option to move around the map.
More directly, the traveling option where you can high light any icon to see what's there. Sometimes, you need to do one of those objectives you wouldn't think would lead to an actual story portion. This may take some time to happen. Make sure among getting the ending credits, do not turn off the game. You have to access a particular story book icon to end chapter 5 to start the epilogue section.
When this happens depending on your decisions will give you one of two achievements. Another way to know which ending you're getting is a picture for those respective endings. Otherwise, regardless how you choose to play this story mode. This will take a couple hours to get. You can not get both endings in a single run.
Although that sucks in a way. You do maintain your weapons from the previous run. Just remember to use particular level weapons, you need to be on that level. You may face a lot of characters multiple times both story portions as well as additional ones you can do. Honestly, I hope this helps people out to getting either Libra of Souls run achievements.

Can be combined with the Farewell to a Bleak Winter trophy.
During the passage, try to alternate the choice of evil/good so that the discrepancy on the scales is insignificant.
By the end of the fifth chapter, side quests to close portals will appear.
Before the final battle with Grøh, make a backup save of the game onto a flash drive.
Complete Grøh with one alignment.
After the credits and one more episode, a trophy will appear.
Load the save from the flash drive, look for a side quest on the world map with closing portals.
After each closing you will be offered a choice - evil or good.
Choose a different worldview.
If the evil/good differences were small, a few battles would be enough to change.
If you chose only good throughout the game, then to change your worldview to evil you will have to close a lot of portals, and in some of them you come across quite harmful opponents (like those with enhanced vertical attacks).

The method, before the final mission, copying to a flash drive is 100% working. The main thing is to leave before her the opportunity to change her mind for good or evil in one or two fights.
