How to unlock the Woe from Wit achievement in Spaceland - Definitive Guide

This pops when you beat the final level Boss Battle

The only chartacters I use for the end game are:

Ortega - Sniper one hit kills. I have her (fully upgraded)
Terra - Ice grenades are clutch and she can one hit some enemies - give her the best pistol as back up. (Fully upgraded)
Torvund - Grenades and Dynamite is great for crowd control and killing walkers etc (fully Upgraded).

I did not upgrade Jim or use him in the last 10 missions... his rifle looks good with lots of ammo but you have to double tap enemies in the late game which has a 2 turn cool down and only does as much damage as Terra in one shot, every turn. His sprint is not that useful as you don't want him away form the rest of your squad.

Same with barrat, he was firmly on the bench. His shotty is too close range to help. his greandes do not enough damage (I didnt upgrade them) and his elixir only helps him (Terra can heal your squad mates). so yes, nothing invested in this guy at all, on the bench from about level 15.

Marcus is too slow and doesn't have enough shots (minigun) Ortega has a better teleporter and he let me down so many times versus drones that I stopped using him. He does less damage than the sniper, moves as slow as Torvund, but Tovund has AOE weapons and Stims to give him mobility when you need it. Didnt upgrade him at all - benched. (also too slow for many of the tight speed running levels. How many times I missed the turn target because he could not run to the exit fast enough...

You have to take the Tech geek guy on the final few missions - so I almost completely upgraded him (extra Ammo etc) You have to keep this guy alive on L28 or it is mission fail. so his job is opening doors, tossing ammo and saving his ammo to stun an enemy every other turn.

In short there are 4 doors to open, and paratroopers will drop in each turn so to beat the 20 turn timer you should keep moving.

First computer opens a door with miners (red cloak guys with pistols and clubs) not hard to dispense of, just remember a dude or 2 will drop in on a rope too.

Second computer lets loose 2 doors of tough spikey mellee beasts (including the ones that erupt into lava). (ammo crate in here, the lava will go out in a few turns so don't waste a grenade you have to come back this way).

3rd computer lets loose some charging roaches and a spiky beast (the tough grey one) and on the other side a door to 2x geysers and another spikey beast. So overwatch the geysers to clear them and you will find the secret once you kill the tough spikey beast.

4th Computer opens a door with a walker bot (with an ammo crate) and also the tank beast you have to shoot in the back and 2x spikey beasts. (another ammo crate in here).

Soooo. the "Proper" way to do it is slowly and systematically,

Computer #1. Kill the spikeys and let the lava burn.
Position near the paratrooper drops and let them come, kill them with secondary weapons to save ammo (they have 50 health). They are NOT infinite, they will stop coming... this in not a speed run.

Computer #2. Kill the miners, not hard

Computer #3 is where it heats up. Rcoket launcher paratroopers will arrive so stay in cover and they will only do 15-18 damage with a blast. You should have 3 healing kits with Terra - and Torvund heals with his stims so you'll be ok) You need to cover someone to go in and get the secret once you cleared the geyser room.

Computer #4 You need to kill the contents of these rooms for ammo. You can ALMOST one shot the walker with Dyanmite so have Torvund in position. Ice grenades are gold here, stop the tank beast from moving until you killed his mates, then get behind him, a secondary weapon is enough to kill him.

Now if you have taken your time and dealt with drop troops you have killed EVERYTHING and have at least 2x full guns.

This is MORE than enough to kill the professor. Be careful, 2x spikey beasts pop up when you enter each of the doors to his room. So maybe use one door, send your heavy hitters in first. Now....

he has 10 health. chip it off with a secondary weapon (dont waste a sniper shot). He will get pissed off, pick up a big gun and heal up to 300... NOW use your Grenade launcher, sniper rifle and an ice grenade to stop him shooting if you can. 2x turn of shooting he will be gone (there is an ammo crate next to him if you need it.)

If you do need to let him hit you - he does 45 damage to one of your team, so keep your geek out of there if he has low health as you will fail the mission if he dies...

Once I did this I got the points for finishing the level, all surviving, and finding the secret - it just took too long.... (27/20 turns for me)

Now do it again for a speed run:

Pop doors one and 2x the same,
Ignore Door 3 as you already have the secret. send your geek down to Door 4, lay some ice traps (ortega) move your 3x team members back up towards the professor (maybe hang back with an ice grenade if you need it.) Then Pop door 4 - ignore the ammo, you shouldn't need it (the 2x ammo drops form your geek should be enough) .. Run your geek back up, pop door 3 on the way, and when the doors open. have your sniper and grenadier ready to go get the professor.

Merc him as quick as you can as LOTS of mobs will be chasing your guy back up the map. You can keep him alive with heals and ice grenades from Terra.

In the killing room. I was sniping for 70-80 damager per shot (teleport to the ammo crate if you need to) you can grenade, stim and grenade again from Torvund which is about 65 damage x2. So in one turn you can do 200 damage to him, easy to finish him off in 2 rounds as long as you can stand a 45point hit.

So that is it. I did it in 13/20. Got the cheevo for speed running every level...

No problem bro. Glad it worked out for you :) Was a fun game. I like my Turn based Strategies. Now I have 100% this and Gears tactics.... I need another game to dive into :)

Thank you for taking the time to write this solution out. I was having a heck of a time trying to figure out the right team for the last mission, and was also trying to speed run it because I thought the enemy spawns were infintite. After resetting my team skills, I customized the 4 heroes listed in your solution, and sent them out to fight. In just one attempt I managed to grab the secret, beat the game with 19 / 20 rounds and pop my last 4 achieves. I ended up just rushing the last 2 doors, clustering my guys around the boss room, hit the last 2 doors then just crammed everyone in with the boss. Had him down in 2.5 turns
