To unlock this achievement you will have to acquire 30 system upgrades which you can purchase at the upgrade store, get in parcels, and some are found already on your ship depending on which one you pick.
You DO NOT have to get them all in one save so you can progress through one save or start all over on multiple saves to grind out the upgrades. (Our strategy was start a new save, earn as much money as we can until we were able to have enough money to buy the upgrades. Run out of gas and repeat.)

I found this continues to count if you keep replacing equipment on the same ship. Had the thruster engine, replaced for the advanced and then back to the thruster. All counted
