There are a total of five gadgets to invent. Each area has a temple (the same as the one you are introduced to at the beginning of the game), in which you will have the chance to use each gadget - acting like a sort of tutorial - and you will get the blueprint before leaving. At the end of your run, you can then go to your workshop and use the blueprint to invent the new gadget.

Due to the RNG of the game, it is impossible to say how to get to the temples, but there is a patch you can use to show them on the map.

There are six Gadgets to find in Vaults spread out across the map. You will eventually get a Vault Identifier for your Patch Board but by the time you reach the end of the game, you will be able to easily explore the entire map and eventually you'll find all six on your own.

Retrieve the Blueprints for each Gadget by completing the Vaults, then head over to the Inventor at the bottom right corner of the Refuge. You will need to upgrade his shop several times until you have six research tables available, then it's just a matter of purchasing all six Gadgets from their respective tables.
