How to unlock the Without Mercy achievement in Spartacus Legends - Definitive Guide

this is a very easy cheevo and shouldn't take long. so here is an easy to follow 15 point by point guide to follow (you will only need to follow the first 6 if you don't drink alcohol, 13 if you're fun, 15 if your as wierd as me)

1. recruit a fighter with dual knives or swords

2. add the weapons and armour you want.

3. face one of the 4 opponents that you can fight at any time in the first district.

4. spam this combo - Hold down and repeat hitting X

5. don't bother blocking, just keep attacking

6. don't even bother adding your free kill boost or buying one (unless you enjoy the deaths, which are pretty fun) as you don't need to

7. poor yourself a hefty jug of red wine like the gladiators drink

8. unlock the cheevo after little to no effort

9. down your drink in one

10. yell "FOR SPAAAAAAAARTA!"

11. realise that your character is not Greek

12. feel bad that you don't know geography

13. get over it and carry on killing gladiators

14. rate my solution with a thumbs up cos i'm sexier than a loose moraled hand maiden

15. add a funny point 15 in the comments because i couldn't think of one.

I can't get this to work, I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Does it have to be a special brand of red wine in step 7? I tried doing this last night, but I woke up now with a headache and no achievement... Plus my throat is sore from shouting FOR SPARTA all the time.

You can only execute/slaughter an opponent when your fame meter is full. The fame meter is the one in the top left corner (Golden leaves). The difference between a slaughter and an execution is that you have to purchase the execution boost (You start the game with 5 already but it's 500 silver for 5) whereas you can do a slaughter at any time, providing you have full fame. An execution is a gruesome cut scene whereas a slaughter will just remove a limb.

There are various ways you can fill the fame meter; it will fill dramatically if you chain good combos together without being hit or you can taunt the opposition by pressing any direction on the D-Pad.

It's fairly difficult to do executions early on in the game, as you won't really be able to fill the fame meter. But fear not! I've found a great area for you to get them.

If you've seen the TV series, you'll know what the pits are. The pits are lawless arenas where shamed Gladiators are sent to fight to the death. Every battle in Insulae (The third area you unlock on the world map) takes place in the pits and is a fight to the death. It only takes a few blows to reach maximum fame here.

BE WARNED! This is a fight to the death. You either kill your opponent or he will kill you. If you die, you can resurrect your Gladiator but it will cost you silver after the first time. It goes like this: it's free for the first death, 500 silver for the second, 2000 silver for the third, 4 gold for the fourth, 8 gold for the fifth etc. etc.

You'll earn this achievement the first time you resurrect your Gladiator:
Spartacus LegendsRejected by HellThe Rejected by Hell achievement in Spartacus Legends worth 33 pointsRevive a dead Gladiator for the first time.

I wouldn't recommend fighting here until your Gladiator's rating is about 90+. I won a few fights at 83 but I also died a few times and lost a lot of coin because of it.

My rating is now 109 and I'm quite comfortably slaying them one by one and earning around 3500 silver and 170 fame each time I win, so this is also a great way to level up.

Once you get into the swing of things, you'll also earn this achievement:
Spartacus LegendsBeat Strong, Bloody HeartThe Beat Strong, Bloody Heart achievement in Spartacus Legends worth 115 pointsWin 5 consecutive fights in Insulae district.

EDIT: Some people are advising that you should dashboard if you're about to lose. DO NOT DO THIS! If you dashboard twice your Gladiator will die and you can do nothing in terms of reviving him.

I found the best way to get the fame up was to use dual daggers and keep hitting x. It fills the bar in the first wind and you get the cheapest boost for 500 silver and do it in the first area(the district name I forgot). 2 hours or so

Dual daggers or swords is a must! I absolutely destroyed a 200 rated gladiator, who had dual swords, with my 89 rated gladiator, wielding dual daggers.

Yes it's accumulative . Even if one of you Gladiators dies his kills will still can't. You can even have a combination of executions and slaughters.

Do the executions AND the slaughters count as kills, or just the executions?

By Jakk Dannielz on 04 Jul 2013 14:22
Yeah, you can have 12 slaughters and 13 executions for example. Either way, they both kill the opponent.

In Insulae (the Pits, as you correctly put it smile) I just used a dual sword gladiator and used the following combo: [down] + [X], [X], [X], [Y].

You go for the knees, and if the opponent blocks chances are by the third hit they are open. I use [Y] because about 50% of the time you will stab the guy on the ground (extra damage). Keep mashing this combo and most enemies won't get a chance to gain a strike. Dual daggers and two handed swords are the toughest with this approach, but I have yet to to even go down for a second wind using this method in this area. As a matter of fact, I found getting a *Perfectus* insanely easy with this method, and in this area (and I only have a rating of ~65).

If you grind for this achievement you will also gain the benefit of a crapload of gold. The Insulae area is one of the most profitable, especially if you win. I got 80k worth of silver easy in this area before the achievement popped.

Okay guys short and sweet way to grind this out.

1. Choose a warrior you are very good with so you win easily against whatever opponent you choose to fight for the small grind.
2. Play in the Mercatus district this way you won't be executed but you can still earn slaughters also if you are slaughtered it shouldn't count as a death the way executions do.
3. DO NOT BOTHER going for executions simply drive the crowd wild with a good fight and slaughter your opponent it is ALOT easier.

Video below showing my method in practice.

Unobtainable due to server closure

In order to get this trophy you need to buy a perk worth 500 silver as this performs an execution. A slaughter does not not require the perk all that is required is to cut a body part off your opponent. If you pick any fight then select any gladiator type the top gear slot is were you will buy the perk to get this. Just buying the perk is not enough to get the trophy. After you lower your opponents health you need to press to get the perk to go off. Just repeat 25 times.

You need to complete 25 fights using execution or bloodshed with any of your gladiators.

Execution - finish the battle with a full rage scale by wearing a boost item (1st cell of your inventory)

Bloodshed - Finish the fight with full rage.

The number of executions + bloodshed that have already been carried out can be viewed before the battle in the kills column. The easiest way to do this is with two knives and swords.
