Hopefully you are reading this before you have raced the blue sprite at the front of the mansion. You do get two opportunities to beat the sprite, but if you don't beat him after two attempts the chance is gone and so are the Faerie fruit you are rewarded for winning. Make sure you have a 'dash' power-up before initiating the race and you should win easily.

If you have missed the chance for these extra fruits and this is the only SP achievement you need, (which I did). Don't fear because there ARE enough in the game to get the 40 you need.

Your first place to check is the perimeter of the mansion garden, stick to the wall and cover the whole edge of the garden, you will pick some up without even seeing them. If this doesn't bag you the achievement another suggested location is in the caves. Check all the outcroppings, there are a few hidden fairly well down here.

This achievement is cumulative, you don't need to have 40 in your inventory at once.

Remember to speak to the four sprites who inhabit your garden later in the game, they will give you one fruit each.

Faerie fruit are the red round fruits you find in the entire game.

Tip:
Sprite sprouts give 1 fruit when they are recorded. (10 fruits max)
When you race against the sprite and win you get some gobstones/fruits/ball bearings.
