How to unlock the Griffin Tamer achievement in Spiderwick Chronicles - Definitive Guide

After Mallory defeated 20 goblins in the camp you continue with Simon. Go into the tunnel with the Fire Salamanders and put their nest out. Talk to the knocker and continue to exit the tunnel on the other end. Go to the little pool of water and collect the feather you saw dropping down there earlier in the cut-scene. When you collect the feather you get this achievement.

don't you have to also return the feather to the griffin as well?

Don't remember. I put this solution out there just after I got the achievement. So I think this is correct.
