How to unlock the Unsubscribe achievement in Spiritfarer: Farewell Edition - Definitive Guide

On Hummingberg island, in the rightmost area that you can access after
there’s a character standing outside on the second floor of a building who will let you subscribe to the Feedorama newsletter for 5000 glims (you’ll need an upgraded kitchen and a mailbox first).

Subscribing to the newsletter unlocks
Spiritfarer: Farewell EditionFood DeliveryThe Food Delivery achievement in Spiritfarer: Farewell Edition worth 17 pointsSign up to Feedorama.
After subscribing you will periodically get recipes and ingredients sent to your mailbox.

After a certain point, you will start getting odd letters

At this point, you can return to the character who sold you the subscription and unsubscribe for 10000 glims.

If you want, you can save your game, pay to unsubscribe, get the achievement and then force quit the game if you don’t feel like spending the 10k.

ugh I signed up only a couple of hours before I got every other achievement, so now I gotta wait a few hours. According to the Spiritfarer wiki you get a mail once per week. One day takes 22 minutes and 24 seconds (unless you skip the night which saves around 7 minutes) and you need to receive at least 4 mails (the first is given almost instantly afair). That's almost 8 hours of real time (5.5 hours if you keep skipping the night).

CORRECTION: You need to receive 5 mails with ingredients and then another about the change of management (which is in your mailbox a day or two after the 5th shipment). That's roughly 10.5 hours (or 7 hours if you keep skipping the night.)

Do you have to sign up at a certain time of the day? The NPC is there for me, and I just upgraded my kitchen and got my mailbox. The NPC is just saying he can't talk cause he's busy. I had no issues on my first save file

All I'll say for this one is make sure you Subscribe early to Feedorama. I have finished everything else and I am still waiting to pass the days until the bad food comes and I can unsubscribe

I had nothing else left to do so I visited the npc a few times after the management change letter but before getting any spoiled food and it let me unsubscribe after a few visits. Saved me in game days of just sailing around. Not sure if it glitched or if it's reproducible but worth a try if you left it till late in the game to subscribe to it.

For what it’s worth, you can meet the requirements to sign up quite quickly, but until you get a letter inviting you to join fedorama, the spirit won’t let you.

Just wanted to reiterate what Fluke939 mentioned earlier. Do it as early as possible. Took me an unnecessary 10+ hours at the end of the game with nothing else to do but wait for this quest to end.

I don’t think so, but maybe it also needs to progress to a certain point in the story? Maybe since it’s your second time through you got the upgrades quicker than “expected”?

Are you sure you’re talking to the right person (the one on the second floor of the larger buildings with a slanted roof)? I uploaded a screenshot just in case the description isn’t clear.

Through your journey, you will eventually build the mailbox for your ship. And a little while after that you should receive an advertisement for the Feedorama food delivery service. Now, head to Hummingberg and go right continuing up the ladder to meet the food delivery subscription person. Agree to purchase the subscription. After a while of receiving ingredients and recipes in your mailbox, you should receive a letter stating that management has changed. And after that, you will begin receiving spoiled food and junk from the subscription. Return to Hummingberg and talk to the same person again to cancel your subscription.
