Beat a Friend's Rival Ghost in every Range (in Explore)

10

How to unlock the I Ain't Afraid of Snow Ghost achievement in SSX - Definitive Guide

You need to beat a Friends Ghost in all of the 9 Ranges in the game.

If you have no friends then you should start to do some Global Events and adding people with around the same scores as you and then attempting to beat their scores or post a forum post on TrueAchievements.

If you have a friend that is willing to do it you can simply load up a Deadly Descent in each area and kill yourself, then they kill themselves right after your record. Then you go back through and beat their score.

Here is a checklist if needed:
Himalayas
Africa
Antarctica
New Zealand
Siberia
Alaska
Rockies
Patagonia
Alps

Would suggest for you to start a forum thread for this achievement if it has not already been made and people can just ask for help etc.

Is there a difference between "any friends ghost" and a "rival ghost"? I notice that some peaks say rival right on them, while others don't.

You have to beat a friend.

I would like to confirm that this did not pop until I beat friends labeled as "rivals" in each zone.

^ I believe that it doesn't matter, it can be any ghost on your friends list. This is because I hadn't entered any events in Patagonia, and only completed one race which didn't have anyone labelled as a rival. I beat one of my friend's times and I still managed to get the achievement just fine!

I think the game takes it very literally when it says "a friend". I had plenty of friends records beat across the different ranges, but it didn't unlock. I then decided to try to beat just one person on my friend's list (appropriately TrueAchievement himself) and I got it when I beat at least one of HIS records on each range. I when I unlocked the achievement, I did it on a drop where I had beaten an easier friend's record, but not TA's record, so I'm fairly certain of this.

This one was a pain in the ***. It's indeed the same friend you need to beat on every mountain. And new ghosts can only be made on survive events (due to server issues).
I added some people from the forum and from playing online till I found someone with a record on every mountain.
Found someone I could (barely) beat everywhere. Unlocked yesterday.

Can this still be done? I’ve used a dummy account to create a bunch of beatable scores on each range’s Survive It Deadly Decent.
I never see an actual ghost, just the score to beat in the leaderboard.
Does it matter if it’s done in Survive, Trick or Race it? And do Japan and Mt Eddie count as ranges?

*EDIT*
Just got it, The dummy account had to have a score higher than my main account to begin with, then I had to beat that new score. And only on Survive it levels, not necessarily on the deadly decent peak.

For those of you without any friends that own SSX, or that don't want to add random other people as friends to get this achievement, I recommend creating a free Xbox live account for this achievement. After creating it, send a friend request to your primary account, log in on the primary and accept it, then log back into your new free account.

You can use your free account to race on all the first track, shortest trick events (just race to the bottom as fast as you can, without doing any tricks). Once you've completed one on each range, exit the game and then log in to your primary account. Head to each range and beat the extremely easy trick score, and then you've unlocked the achievement!

Any track will work (including Deadly Descent, as suggested above), but using the shortest trick it track doesn't require getting enough money on the free account to unlock the tracks.

Just make sure you friend the other account (it can't be a local profile only), because it has to show up in your SSX rivals list.

This is really easy if you have a friend that plays this game. I had a friend do every deadly descent in every range and they failed at the first possible spot in all of them (e.g. jumping off the edge in Patagonia). Then I played and went just slightly further than them on every single on range and got my achievement. They did the same for all the ranges again and we now both have the achievement. Takes slightly less than an hour. Let me know if you need specific tips for how to die early but for the most part it should be self-explanatory.

I'm saying a friend over XBL not just multiple accounts

In Explore mode, a Rival Ghost is a record any friend has set that is over your best for that run. If you have not completed an event, then it is the lowest record any friend holds. If none of your friends have played a run, there is no Rival. To pop this trophy you must beat a friend's ghost on each of the nine ranges. An easy way to tell if you have beaten your rival is in the Drop Bonus section of the post-race screen, you should see a PSN icon among the earned badges. If you have Mount Fuji in Japan, it does not count for this trophy.
It is possible to boost this trophy by having a friend set an extremely low record on any run, and beating their record. Survive events are perfect for this as they can be found on every range and are extremely easy to die, ensuring a low record. If you need friends who play SSX, see Co-op Partners Thread - Friends/Rivals (Read First Post!)

You must break at least one record in each of the 9 countries. This is done using the second account.
