The Apple Theory

Survive Gravity Deadly Descent without equipping a wingsuit (in World Tour)

25

How to unlock the The Apple Theory achievement in SSX - Definitive Guide

Early on during the Tour, you will be in Patagonia. The last event in this region, is called the "Fitz Roy" and they recommend you use a wingsuit for the event, because of the large gaps.

Choose this event, and make sure you are NOT wearing any wingsuit. You should have a very low survival probability (4%).

Just take your time down the hill, making sure to land tricks and build boost on small jumps. On large jumps you must boost and hold "A" (to ready your rider) prior to the jump to clear any gaps. All gaps have ramps marked with skulls, meaning these need high speeds, with preloaded jumps. Also, you are allowed 3 total rewinds, if you ever take a nasty spill, and they will not prevent you from attaining the achievement.

This level frustrated me a lot. My recommendation is to use a high level boarder with a very fast board. For me this was Kaori on level 7 with a speed board (also level 7). This way things get much more easier and I got it on my first try, while I had countless failed attempts before.

The last jump keeps getting me 'cause I keep running out of rewinds by the time I get there, and I tend to stick to the right.. Guess I'll level up my character a bit more and leave this for later.

I found that getting Tricky and particularly Super Tricky helped considerably. Jumps that I failed at reliably without Super Tricky were no trouble with Super Tricky. So take the time to trick in the air to build up your tricky meter.

^ Agreed, I was having a mega hard time until I built up some tricky. It helped!

Also got this during the story line with Elise, first try. Thanks MAKA. I did buy a Lv 4 Legendary Speed Board that happened to be available at that moment. Which Im sure helped.

You need to survive Deadly Descent: Gravity without equipping a wingsuit. This event takes place in Patagonia in Fitz Roy - Broken Elbow. If you have not completed this event before, you will be playing as Elise.
Once again there is no opponent nor score limit to beat, so you do not have to rush, you will have to maintain a decent speed (At least 100kmph for most, for the big jump at 860 meters left, about 120kmph+) in order to safely jump over crevasses without falling so I would recommend performing enough tricks to keep your Tricky meter at least half full for when you need it. It will take a few tries for you to figure out how you need to angle your jumps. Upon successful completion without use of a wingsuit, you will be awarded this trophy.
