How to unlock the The Gold Standard achievement in SSX - Definitive Guide

Course: Alps -> Vorassay -> Beyond the Fall
Character: Alex
Suit: Alex's Signature Suit
Board: Lv5 Speed Board
Gear: Lv6 Alex's Suregrip Ice Axes

None of that really matters, I'd wager; I purchased Mac, did this as a quick test, and he just barely got gold using the same method with standard equipment.

That method? Tap up on the control stick to start the race, then walk away. About two minutes later your character will find themselves at the finish line in first place. Alex always gets 1:59.36, while Mac got 2:06.xx. There doesn't seem to be a way to disable rumble and you hit a few rough patches, so don't set the controller any place it might fall.

You get 22,700 Credit/EXP for doing this, which you can use to purchase other characters and equipment. Seems like a great way to get all of your characters up to level 7 or so, too.

Worked for me. I have my profile set to not rumble, so it didn't bother me.

Perfect solution, and yes, this is a great track to use for quick XP for character leveling with no effort. This ties in perfectly with the Who Needs Boost achievement, so I wrote a solution there linking to yours here.

The only change I made was during the final descent I slammed the boost. Got 1:50:00ish. Nice job, +1.

Just to add that I've just run it three times with Alex's Signature Board and that goes faster than using the Speed Board (1:45.76). Works just as well, push forward and go.

This achievement requires you to beat the gold time set on a race event in EXPLORE mode. These times are a little more difficult than those in world tour, so you might have a problem getting all the golds. However, this achievement only requires ONE gold medal. One of my favorite runs is MAJESTIC which I believe is in Patagonia. Bring a wingsuit, and literally sail past Griff's time. Also keep in mind that Survive-It courses have race times and trick-it scores tailored to the danger of the run (in other words, play the run a few times and they are super easy). And, as always, practice, practice, practice!

Took a few tries but worked great. Definitely need to abuse the wingsuit, don't hesitate to deploy it even on a routine downhill, it helps.

This solution may help you if you are like me, not so great at finding big jumps, doing tricks and then activating infinite boost via tricky.

The track for this one is in Explore -> Alaska -> Denali -> Emergency Exit, the same track as Avalanche Deadly Descent. in order to race in the event, you'll need around 20,000 credits So, you'll have a different visual, but it's nice as you can see who's behind or beside you much easier than the other tracks.

I was able to beat this without obtaining Tricky at all. Keep to the right, listen to the heli pilot, and make sure you are always continuously in motion. As long as you have armor equipped you shouldn't have any problems health wise.

Since you'll automatically be doing big jumps off of cliffs, do a trick to gain some boost. Nothing fancy, don't overdo it, just get some meter to give you more boost.

If you fall into a crevasse and rewind, then forget about it as you won't be getting Gold from that. Overall if you keep your run clean you should be fine. It'll take you a handful of tries to get it, or it might be on your first time, but I just find this track is easier than having me meter up to Super Tricky and then get infinite boost.

Time to beat is 2:26.90 and I'm not exactly skilled and I pulled off a 2:17.46 ; Lvl 9 Kaori, with a Level 7 Legendary All-Around Board, Lv 7 Epic All-Around Armor and one Lvl 9 Speed Mod. Don't know why I didn't plug two in, but you might even have more success if you double up your mods.

Good luck!

The better your gear, the better your chances, Speed adds to your rider's top speed and acceleration, Boost increases your speed when boosting and decreases the amount of boost drained per second (Though this is irrelevant while you're in Tricky/Super Tricky as you have unlimited boost), and Tricks increases your speed of rotation and makes it easier to earn Super Tricky.
If you get dropped out of a helicopter, do a basic trick possibly with a tweak or rotation in order to build up some early boost, and build up to Super Tricky as quick as you can. Flares are also a godsend because they build meter and you don't even need to jump. After that, stay on the ground as much as possible, only doing tricks once Tricky starts blinking, indicating that if you do not continue performing tricks it will fade. Note that Tricky CANNOT fade while you are in the air, if the timer runs out while you are in the air, Tricky will fade upon landing.
Jumping slows you down and you cannot boost while in the air. Grinding is something you want to do as often as you can due to the fact that you move just as fast as you do on the ground, you gain boost if you are not in Tricky, and you are able to boost while you grind. The only problem is you have no control of steering or where the rail will take you. Press to dismount from a grind before it becomes a detriment. Using a wingsuit is also an option, especially when it can be used to jump over large portions of the course, or over obstacles, however it builds no boost and you cannot boost while using it.
If you still need an edge you can buy Speed or Boost mods. Characters with Speed+ or Boost+ Perks are Alex (Speed+15), Psymon (Boost+15), Elise (Speed+10, Boost+5), Tane (Speed+10, Boost+5), Moby (Speed+5, Boost+10), Zoe (Speed+5, Boost+5), Griff (Speed+5, Boost+5), Kaori (Boost+5), and Ty (Speed+5).
