How to unlock the The Golden Trick It achievement in SSX - Definitive Guide

The good news, it's beat any trick event with a gold.

The bad news. Gold is quite hard. You'll earn this after learning the game. But it's a skill challenge, but there's a few tricks to help boost your score.

First: Tweaking grabs = big points. Use the Right Trigger liberally on stunts. In addition vary your tricks if you're getting duplicate trick warnings.

Second: Full combo. You don't need to full combo from the beginning to the end. But your first trick will be kind of small, however if you get your multiplier up to 20x. 100K bonus points becomes 2 MILLION points. 200K becomes 4 million. These are lower ends of the numbers. So if you hold that combo til the end of the map, you'll usually end up with super sized scores. At the very least hold the combo til you're in the 17-20x range.

Third: Speaking of Multipliers. Those are your friend. Big tricks gives you a higher multipler, staying in one area lowers it. You don't have to race through the map, but keep moving, and keep doing big tricks. You want 20x if possible by the end of the course. If you can get 20x and a full combo you'll likely beat most runs.

Fourth PRACTICE! Just keep restarting the run until you get a good feel, there are places where you need to nose press or tail press (pressing B or X on the ground) to keep your combo going, and there's places where you should just get speed to get more air. Hit every jump possible, and even the side of the jump allows you to pull small tricks.

After beating the career mode, this only took me 4 attempts. It's really easy once you learn how to focus your tricks, and build your multipliers, but it will still take a couple tries the first time.

If someone looks for a good track: Rockie Mountains, Whitehorn Mountain, "Curnoe's Moustache" worked fine for me (scored over 10 mil and I'm not that skilled)

can confirm that perceptron3000's recommendation is a good one. The AI scores quite low on this one and it's a fairly easy track.

Can confirm too, Curnoe's Moustache is the way to go if you have trouble with the gold medal !

Any advice in getting the Tricky meter up? Sometimes I'll get it up immediately without trying & other times not get it until I'm halfway down the run (witgout changing gear, character or mods).

Also throwing Flips into the trick too is always good, Again as long as you can land it, it'll help, every little score boost should be done because it'll build your tricky meter. fast. I usually could get to tricky in two to three "big" tricks. You want to learn the places to do the biggest tricks and as I mentioned you want the tricky as fast as possible to unlock the ridiculous tricks.

Curnoe's Moustache by far the easiest. Got this on attempt 1 whereas I've been trying the Alaska routes for half a day...

Thanks, bigfatwallet! I was doing the same thing, but got it on the second shot at Curnoe's Moustache.

I was struggling for an hour and a half and finally got a 12 mil perfect combo and got... silver. Then I realized I'd been playing JT2 the whole time and not Curnoe's Moustache. Went to the right course and got it first try, heh.

Curnoe’s Moustache is definitely the way to go, especially because you only need 4.5 million for a gold, great suggestion!

The big trick Mugen is you want to do LARGE tricks to boost your gauge. It's been a while since I've played SSX but I remember, grabs with tweaks with spin will raise your gauge more than a grab or a spin and flips. Always try to do a bigger trick even you can only hold it for a second before you have to release. And of course never wipe out.

Multi button grabs are longer to execute but often worth more points and more tricky. And try to avoid boosting as that lowers your tricky meter.

Can you explain how the Multipiers work, how to build them and maintain it etc. I don't get it?
If you can point me in the direction of info even? Cheers

To do your best, you need good gear, using a board with high values, especially Tricks, as it will allow you to get to Tricky/Super Tricky faster to bust out Über and Signature moves. Charge up your jumps to spin/flip faster. Doing basic tricks off the ground and performing manuals will keep your meter running and your combo multiplier going. Avoid rewinding but if you're having a good run it's okay if you're gaining back more than you lose. Runs that are easier to trick off of have higher gold medal scores, and harder runs have lower scores, so choose whichever you think you'd have a better chance of winning. I recommend Serenity, it's a huge course with tons of grinds and jumps. If you need a boost, buy the best Trick mod you can. Characters with Tricky+ perks are
Mac (+15), Eddie (+15, Gamestop Preorder only), Kaori (+10), Ty (+10), Zoe (+5), and Griff (+5).
