How to unlock the Abolished Armaros achievement in Star Ocean: The Last Hope - Definitive Guide
You'll get this for defeating the first boss of the game, on the northern coast of Aeos. It's story driven, so you can't miss it, but there are a few things to know about the boss fight:
- Hunt around for restorative items. The best way to get some is to continuously check the harvest point to the east of the Calnus (your ship). It will appear every time you enter your ship and then exit.
- Learn how to access those restorative items while in battle! Seems simple, but it's important to know (press Y to open the battle menu and scroll to the items icon. Hit A to enter your inventory and look for Blueberries or whatever you may need; descriptions for the items will appear if you leave the cursor on them).
- Armaros has a weak spot, but it's not so apparent at the beginning. You'll have to smash away at the rock / shell on the side of the creature until it breaks off (this may take a while; the part you want to be hitting glows slightly). The best way to do this is to stay in front of Armaros until it attacks (which is telegraphed). When you see it start to attack, run to its side and begin attacking. After it breaks, repeat this tactic and attack the glowing spot for massive damage.
- If you want to stay back and take things safe, use Reimi and shoot from a distance. Hop away when it gets close (B + the direction you want to go).
- When the boss goes into rush mode, run away from it for a while until it stops glowing.
Following these strategies, you shouldn't have too tough a time.
ADVANCED TIP: If you're really going for all of the game's achievements, you'll probably want to try to get the finishing blow with Faize. This will save time later (for a couple of different BTs), but do not waste a lot of time restarting, as it is by no means necessary.

Instead of just stating learn how to access items why don't you also include how it is done. I bought my copy used and have no manual and this is something that the tutorials didn't cover.

Abolished Armaros - 20G (Original Achievement)
Difficulty: 2/10
This is a Story Related Achievement and unmissable.
Armaros is the 1st Boss in the game and you will fight it on the beach on Aeos.
You are forced to use Edge, Reimi, and Faize as your party as they are the only members you will have at the time. I highly suggest against using Faize at all in this battle as his attacks are pitifully weak. You can use Edge up close or Reimi from a distance.
Armaros' weak spot is underneath the brown shell on its side. You will need to attack the shell non stop to break it and reveal a round light on its side. Attack this light to deal massive damage and finish the fight moments later.
Note: If you are playing as Edge, back away a bit when Armaros enters Rush Mode (he lights up brightly) and wait for it to end. If you attack while it is in Rush mode it can deal some heavy damage to you. If you feel you will die soon, switch to Reimi or use a Blueberry on yourself.

In this guide I wil show you how to get the achievement "Abolished Armaros" which requires you to of Defeated Armaros on the northern coast of Aeos. (Secret) worth 20G in the game Star Ocean:The Last Hope.
This achievement can be earned after the first boss battle. To kill the boss, all you need to do is use blindsides to get behind him, and slash the crap out of him (which will destroy his outer shell making him easier to kill....
Or, if you want to use the girl with the bow (forgot her name), just keep shooting, as most chances are,, Armaros will attack your teammate and it will be easy to run behind him, and shoot him.
