How to unlock the Creature Collector achievement in Star Ocean: The Last Hope - Definitive Guide
In order to get this achievement, you must fight 77 different types of monsters (there are 154 total). Bosses count.
You can keep track of which enemies you've fought in the collections section of the menu. For the achievement, you merely have to fight each type of enemy once. Do not worry about maxing the research out on them.
Use this list from Xbox360Achievements.org to track your progress:

As you progress through the game, the collections section will keep track of the monsters you fight more or less in the order you fight them. If you're missing a spot, you most likely just missed out fighting one at some point.
There are some enemies you can miss on your playthrough:
- Fight the Lizard Soldier, Wise Lizardman, and Lizard Commander before completing the Celestial Ship on Lemuris
- Defeat the Guard Bot "Commando", Guard Bot "Assaulter", Cardianon Soldier, Lizard Warrior, Lizard Shaman, Armed Dragon Newt, Cardianon General, Armed Dragoon, and Dragon General before completing the Cardianon Mothership.
If you complete the Astral Caves on Planet Roak before completing the Insect Warren on Aeos, you will get this achievement when you defeat Armaros Manifest, assuming you have every monster before Armaros Manifest recorded.

There are 154 monsters in the game.
To get this achievement, just fight every monster you meet. You do not need to have their data to 100% to get this achievement, just register 50% of the monsters (thats 77 monsters) into the data logs.

Creature Collector - 20G (Original Achievement)
Difficulty: 3/10 (Will take a while)
To get this achievement simply defeat half of the 154 different types of enemies throughout the game. In other words simply defeat 77 different kinds on enemies throughout the game.
If you fight everything that looks different or new to you along the way you should get this before you beat the main story.
Note: Just because you fought a bird looking creature on Lemuris does NOT mean it is the same creature on Roak. If they are on different planets, they are different enemies.
(You will see an enemies name listed after battle if it is a new enemy and has been added to your collection.)
Please see my Monster Master Guide for a full list.
