How to unlock the Massacred Manifest achievement in Star Ocean: The Last Hope - Definitive Guide

This achievement can be unlocked by beating the 6th boss.

To beat the boss, you need to Blindside him (Make sure he is targeting you, Hold B and wait until the four yellow things are flashing and let go), you will blindside the enemy, then just hack away at the orb on his back leg (thats his weak spot.)

Its actually a really easy boss battle, I was able to keep my exp bonus board intact, (which gained me 101,000 exp after battle :D)

It has a few ? Over the health bar, hence why it looks like there is no damage being done. Glad I seen this tip. Spent an hour trying to beat it but got sseriously owned. Lumley is useless for this fight. Took 6000 damage as soon as I brought her into combat and died instantly.

don't be an idiot like me. I wasted like 3 hours.
First off, this boss started after 3 hours of grinding and I didn't save, because I didn't know walking one foot in some direction to get a chest would trigger the hardest boss battle in the game. There is no indication a battle is coming and there was a save station I was going to go to after I got the chest. Battle started. I didn't know how to blind side and fought the boss for 45 minutes!!! and he still killed me entire level 55 team. I went to the battle sim, figured out how to do blind side, ran back with my now level 50 team, and beat him in 90 seconds.
LEARN HOW TO DO BLINDSIDE!!!
You can go to the battle sim in the main menu, you don'T need to run back to the ship.

Ouch, I wish I'd known about that! This one took me about 5 tries and about 30 - 40 mins of solid combat on the last try to beat her :-\ I thought the difficulty jump from the other bosses was a bit extreme!

Anyway, some tips:

1) Keep your team on "fight freestyle with full force". If you focus on the same target then the insects that the boss spits out will kill your AI characters. Obviously keep Sarah on "stay out of trouble" if you're using her. Lymle too, only I can't imagine why anyone would use her.

2) Turn off any non-wind symbols in the "use skills" menu and boost the level of your wind symbols if possible. The boss is weak to wind.

3) By this point you should have lots of wind paint, 2 wind gems and you can mine gnomestone from the insect warren before the boss. Use the gnomestone in item synthesis to make all/some of your characters armour absorb earth based damage (the boss uses earth symbols quite heavily). Use wind paint in item synthesis to add the wind element to some/all of your characters weapons. DO NOT use the wind gems instead of wind paint, you'll need them for the next tip.

4) The boss uses silence pretty heavily. Which is annoying. By now you should have two wind gems, use those (and some other common ingedients) to make 2 anti-silence amulets. Then use them on the 2 characters you need to use symboils/skills the most (i.e. your healer! and the character you manually control most of the time). If you have already spanked your wind gems, then you can use red herbs in sythesis on your armour to give them 40% resistance to silence. You should do this for the 2 that don't get anti-silence amulets anyway.

Then it's just a question of spamming chain combos, using rush mode, topping up your MP with blackberries and/or using riot potions. Keep on the boss and draw it's attention from the crappy AI characters, only leave to save them if they get in trouble from the smaller insects. You'll probably need to use fresh sage and resurrection elixirs a couple of times too. On weaker characters (like Sarah :-\). Sacrificial dolls help too, if you've not got that space occupied by something better.

My setup:
Edge
Merecle
Bacchus
Sarah (only healing and wind symbols enabled and using the "Stay out of trouble" tactic)

Edge was Level 48, the rest between 40 and 46.
