Simply play the final battle without using the repair ship (The U.S.S. Scott, you can only initiate repairs by hailing, just so you know) and the achievement will pop upon completion of the battle.

If you destroy the diamond straightaway you won't even need to fight any tactical cubes before Scotty shows up with the turret/sensors, so pop them in position and it's adios muchachos.
